Hey feng, if you used a simple 3d scene to get the perspective, could you also post a screenshot of it? Would be interesting IMO.

Thanx again for the compliments =)

I can't wait to show you guys all the final ones.

About the paper, i just use regular copy paper. They take marker great; the marker bleeds just a bit, which makes it easier to blend. Special paper are often too slick, so the marker smears and slides all over the place - bad.

Here's a quick 3D shot i used to set up the perspective. All you need are the major perspective lines. This makes it easy to set up hard angle shots. When adding details, just follow the perspective lines. As long as you understand perspective well, 3D setup can be very helpful.

Dhabih, good to hear from you. Thank you for hosting such a great forum...

It's late...gotta get some sleep...

Vortx,

Love your stuff...it freaking ROCKS!! Can't wait to see all the Battle Realms gear as well.

I have thought of setting up similar perspective 3d scenes as reference myself, but I wonder about it weakening my already poor perspective drawing skills. Though I could spend the time to layout everything with a ruler and all, cause I know I can't eyeball it close...

Hey Vortx

I loved your ink sketch and I could not resist doing it in 3d. Kind of ironic because someone on another board who says they worked with you said you started in 3d in the 1st place. It has come full circle.

Very nice raytraced. What program is that? Are you gonna throw some textures on it? The lighting is great.

Made it in Max. Did not take too long. I rendered each light out seperatly and composited in PS. Also rendered out some seperate lights for some radiosity simulation and composited it on. Then I specular blurred some of the light in PS.

Thinking about texturing it. Not sure of what look would be good for it. I was thinking the walls be a sandstone material and then maybe some dark metal for the main parts.

Any thoughts?

and raytraced... ..can't see your pic but maybe some really 'hard' stone-texture would be cool, and than as you said a cool dark metal texture..
