this board is great and thats why i decided to leave until i get the hang of my wacom and can produce something of quality instead of posting crap =). Will sketch and paint more instead of spending time one forum. I Wont be back for a few years ok? Joke will be back in a few months i supose. Just thought that this server deserves alot more than crappy sketched from me... well you wont see me for a while after newyears.

So i guess thats my new years resolution. Instead of admiring GREAT peices of work from artist like Gecko , spooge , micke , joachim, CAPTAIN um dont remember his name .. ect... and punch myself everytime i see something nice that makes me think i will never get as good, I will go into isolation and work work work and wont come back until i can do something that is worth showing =)

Although it may be a good idea to check the forum once in a while and learn new techniques or gain inspiration.

plouffe, I wish you luck, the kind of determination I can see in your post is bound to result in some serious development of your skills, just channel it into sketching, painting, using photo ref, whatever. just keep at it, giving less attention to the forum (i could use that as well :) is a really good idea.

But, come back every now and then to see what others have done as well.

Plouffe, you've been doing a lot of good crits, not many people these days do that.
I'm going to miss you, snif snif
I should do the same, but I will need more than just some months =)

Hmm... cool idea for the forums. But I hope you still be lurking posting some crits from time to time. One hour a day lurking won't keep you from improving skills

Well... I always thought it would be cool if people decide like this. But now that the point has come it makes me think. It makes me think that the wrong people do the right thing maybe. People who should do that won't even bother bout such a suggestion. Maybe I should go too?
I guess that's the power of good bye -Madonna

thanx for your support Gecko i could even say your one of my idols =) . Maybe been member since november but was on the forum for at least 4 months before that =). I havent learn one bit from the forum all that i learnt is that their are REALLY REALlY great artists here which is killing my insperation. So time away from the forum working on my own stuff will be good and will make me feel better. Anyways i will be checking the forum until tomorow night. Will start resolution for the NEW YEAR .. GREAT START huh?

Ragnarok: Yeah well i have a good background in traditional art ( charcoal, pencil, oil paints ect) so time off will let me work on the painting aspect. Shouldnt be tooo different from what i am doing in school now. Just need to figer out a way to digital paint that i like and makes a nice style.

El caseron

Its not necessairely the forum that will keep me from improving its WHAT i see in the forum. For some reason MENTALLY that when i see a great pic like capt.flushgarden well i kinda get put down and lose inspiration. So instead of thinking that i should start painting like Capt.flushgarden or Gecko well i should take time off and do my own stuff not thinking what others will say or not thinking that it should look more like some great artist style.... anyways kinda hard to explain but maybe some people here can stoop down to my level

Plouffe... when you see these great artists, simply draw along with them. For example, taht gas mask thread was mad long..and it's still going I think. Anyway, make sure to drop by from drawclub *ohno!* and yah. Once in a while, just jum back on here, find a good picture and try to accurately paint it. It's usually simpler as the brushstrokes are there for you to see and the colors are more solid..as opposed to real life. But anyway, farewell and good luck on your good ol quest

hey, don't you think it's easier to improve by staying here, if you keep it to posting your work and get feedback, instead of keeping it all to yourself and be your own judge ?!?

not for me it wasn't. but then again i never got the feedback/help 'cause i never asked for it. but that's not the point, it would not have made a difference if i had or had not asked for it. :p

Hey Plouffe,

I think you should stick around. If you feel you're not good enough to contribute, well, that's just plain wrong... we're all here to learn. At least keep READING this forum to learn from as there are often a few very precious lessons taught hidden deep into sometimes the strangest of threads...

Good luck!

Well, I started drawing when I came to this forum.
I spent some weeks doing that design and composition thingies, but when I discovered this I knew I had to try it =)
I've improved more in two months than in two years. Impressive. And just by reading crits to other's work.

I understand what he says about looking at other artists. but he shouldn't be discouraged.
I am new to this forum, and check up on it daily, to see new pics and the like. but i know better than to be discouraged.
I find that i spend just as much time viewing others work, as i do working on mine.
i should discipline myself. make myself work on new things and try new techniques, but i'm not going to go as far as leave.

it seems that onle " good looking art" gets critz and encouragement around here and i understand why and how hard it is to crit a picture that is totally wrong and that someone would change the whole composition. So instead of giving their opinion they dont want to say anything which is quite understandable. SO i think going underground for a little bit refine my skills ect... would be worth my wild and something i should of done before comming to this board.

Frost true my skills as a digital artist suck since i havent gotten used to my wacom and photoshop but as a traditional artist im GREAT but i dont want to be posting traditional stuff since this is a Digital forum heh =).
