I've seen some posts on anime, and thought i could post my most recent anime thingy.. its a character from dragonball. Im not a huge dragonball fan, but i think the character himself is pretty cool.
My favourite anime is Ghost in a shell, anyone seen it?

sharpe, good pic but i cant tell who it is from dbz. if ur creating a new one, try to stay away from the goku look. but overall its pretty nice.

BAH! Ghost in the Shell was a poor example of quality animation...quality images yes, quality animation...A BIG FAT NO!!! Go watch it and count the ungodly amount of times that nothing is moving, nothing at all, where the frame stays paused for minutes, not seconds as the mouths are only animated with no facial expression. Shirow is a great manga artist and i love his manga but Ghost in the Shell as an animation was nothing to adore, granted the quality of images was good, the point is the animation "ACTUAL MOVEMENT OF FORMS OVER TIME" sucked ass. Princess Mononoke on the other hand was a much better anime, more of an epic feel to it unlike the ho-hum Ghost in the Shell. And just so you don't go thinking I'm flaming it too hard, I'm a huge Shirow fan and always will be...hell!, I even saw Ghost in the Shell in a japanese theatre and didn't understand the dialoque for half of it and went to see it when it came over to the states in select cities, but that anime isn't and won't be in my Shirow collection.

maybe it was intended like that, smartie.
it's alot more stylish as it is now than it would be with 100% of the time everything moving.

jepp, its Goku from DBZ, i can see that the hair is a little off.
I found that Ninja scroll was a good anime, but ofcourse not as good as ghost in a shell. i especially like the scene in ghost in a shell where there's a break in the action, and you see Motoko on a "tour" arond the city. With the relaxing soundtrack in the background.. great..

just to remind you, remember to copy alot of shitty anime (refering to the neon genesis evangelion on the left pile) and alot of good stuff (cowboy bebop on the right) on daily basis!

i've gotta say OPTX is right, ghost in the shell displayed some really poor animation. way too many still frames, some of the worst mouth movement i've ever seen, and the amount of rotoscoping (tracing from a live actor) they did was insane. every time there was a complicated action, it was rotoscoped. (for example, when kusanagi was getting up in the morning, and was silhouetted, it looked like a live actor was pasted into the scene) whether these effects were 'intended' or not isn't really relevant, because they're all common methods that animation studios use to cut corners.
that said, technical animation isn't the only thing that makes a movie, and i enjoyed the story and the layouts were absolutely beautiful. also, amazing soundtrack.

Ha, that wasn't rotoscoping! The fact that you think it was adds to it's my feeling that it's the best scene in the whole film. The reason you're thinking these are rotoscoped scenes is because of the obscene frame count. There was no skimping of costs in this film, and the still scenes are as such to establish an overall setting.
Don't believe me, wait until you see Mamoru Oshii's (GitS Director) next project, Avalon... release date 1/20/2001...
