Actually, I think the water's fantastic. Love the use of large bolder strokes to illustrate the water. Very realistic.

I do think you might want to rework the composition of the piece though, as the three hills are splitting the picture up a bit too equally into exact thirds. Perhaps if you made one taller or shifted one "off-camera" a little, it might help break up the monotony of having the three hills in equal thirds of the picture.

The shadows under the hill/caves on the left are very nicely done, though. Looking forward to seeing the finished piece. Keep at it!

Don't get mad, but I liked it better before. Maybe repost the original for comparison?

man that's nice!!!

but one thing i think could be added to add more detail to your cliffs or islands. i'd make the areas where it sinks in to the cliff the deepest, make those a bit darker. and it'd look like a real pictue. =D

Hello, really like your pic. It has a great feel, and sense of realism, almost as if you're actually there. Couple things I might add though...
Where the water meets the far hills it almost gives the impression that it doesn't- like it falls off, more like a waterfall. may need more sense of depth. Raise the water just a tad. Maybe thats where the boat was? Also, the light relections on the water give me a sense of a cloudy day, where as the sky appears clear.

Don't get me wrong though, I really like this piece.

It needs some Junks in the bay. I agree that the old one looked better.

The forms of the left and center rock have the same scale, but atmospherically the middle one is much further away. Linear and atmospheric perspective should match. Also, since water is a flat plane, where these rocks sit on that plane is a very strong indicator of distance. Left rock should be a little lower in frame in relation to water. You can lighten up the water a little by the left rock. Water can have some diffuse quality (not totally reflective) if particles are suspended in it.

Left rock right edge is crushing, or going flat. The sky is very bright, so there is plenty of light hitting that area. Should keep some light (detail and form) in that area.

Well, of course, the farther away rock could be several times larger... but thats really not the point. =0
