Just wondering where the usual suspects like: HPX, Sparth, Baronteri, Vyle, Beat, Bengal, WASSUP are? It's been a while since I've seen their stuff. I MISS YOU GUYS' WORK!!! |

XIA, I remember when you started to post here in Sijun and I think you posted this one in your first post perhaps. I really loved this character you drawed and I have since then felt an urge to paint that character. Today I sat down and painted him and it took around 3-4 hours, I hope you are ok with this picture. :)
XIA, thank you for keep pushing me. :)
XIA-paintover.
nexykun, helltaxi, XIA, nUmb // thank you guys, I really appreciate it. :)
see you

ok... what exactly is speed painting? It used to be anything under 30mins... I've been seeing people take several hours, defeating the whole purpose. Unless there was a new rule I missed out on... _________________ "Remember, no matter how bad life gets, there's always beer..."

XIA: thanks. i like seeing your figure drawings. i'm learning from you
kenchan: (xia, let me join saying this) Skebe Ne, KentaroChan?
flaptraps: thank you flaptraps. i started doing some busy, sudden stroke making, and then cut them into shapes, as they look like something. So i didn't tryed to draw a sword fight, the characters just came out from the shapes.(sorry, my english is not good. i hope you get what i'm saying)
Matthew: hey, i like your orange lightings!
nexykun:
sparth: waaaah!!!
MetaSoul: lengthen it, under 1h, then i'll be alright well, i didn't know there was an exact limit, sorry. I'll try some under 30min one next time |

Sosen>>Thanks Sensei, I am a fan of your art...and many more.
And I think Speedpainting to me is like finish it in one sitting. Not necessary has to be thirty minutes...it could be from ten min to couple hours max.
Sparth>> Yeah! Canada huh? Are you still with Darkwork? or are you moving on to something else?
Nexykun>> Thanks buddy.
Matthew>> Thanks dude! I can't believe you still have that doodle. Keep it up. |

MetalSoul: There is no limit. There are more and less complex images. 90 minutes was mentioned once though.
As long as you have to make fast decisions and fill the canvas quickly it's a speedpainting.
If you research for too long and tweak a lot it's less and less a speedpainting.
I agree with XIA ... it should be done in one session.
Sometimes people just post here because images are not worth their own thread.
It has always been like this afaik.
Spooge are you around?
I just wanted to ask if it's crucial to know how to construct shadows cast by spheres and cones on round objects ...
and shadows cast on spheres and cones in general?
Or would you set them up and draw them from life?
I can't find anything in books or tutorials.
Tried to make a weirdly lit scene work. Now I'll go back to basic shapes.

I think a time frame was originally set. Gives you more confidence I think, even if it isn't a sharp looking image, you'll just paint more naturally and develop an eye for things... *shrug* _________________ "Remember, no matter how bad life gets, there's always beer..."

FlapsTrap>> Whatever...FlapTraps... Nice profile good sense of lighting/strokes. Push color saturation a little more maybe? Think balance cool and warm. Good job. |

A couple of quick ones. Galactus was an old quick doodle I scanned in. Took about ten, maybe fifteen minutes, to slap color on it.
I have no excuse for the lame samurai.
This forum's so good I feel embarassed to post my crud on here. Keep up the amazing work. _________________ Meow |

that top one is nifty, dougbot!
Andyt, I remember learning how to do this, I have some info buried somewhere, but I don't think it is all that important. It is important to know it generally, so you can fake it well. But that usually means doing it right first. I will see what I can do.
This one started well, then caught fire and plowed through a preschool before exploding.
Nemo or an entrance to a gay disco in Ginza?

bamboo good. There are square miles of it here that a rat could not get through. The lighting inside is amazing, caused by billions of leaves each with their own little shadow, but clumping together into giant fuzzy spheres and banks. Darker is greener, lighter is, oddly enough, cooler. So you get these cool diffuse lights on warm surfaces. The opposite of warm sun on green trees and grass.
Good thing about doing a lot of these is you don't have to take any one so seriously. In that spirit...
