Cool concept. I actually switch off often these days, because I spend so much time in front of a machine during work and all.

I tried this for a year. Didn't work. Came back to my usual digital existance. Resistance is futile.

It's really hard. I know. However,...sooner or later we will get sick of it anyway.
Most of the time spent with a computer gets wasted with the usual messing around.

I think the guys that would really need to switch off are too far already to realize it themselves. Like the chinese guys that die while playing World of Warcraft.

There was not only one case of that. The most recent one was a girl and shortly after that a boy again I think. But there have been cases like that some time ago already too.

People who die staying up by the computer probably has some sort of heart failure though, with a normal heart you're supposed to be able staying up for a week or something.. then you will probably just fall (literally) to sleep. Smile

As you probably know, the same sort of thing happens in sports when people (even kids) load their hearts too much.. due to a congenital fault (is that the right word?).

Dude, people die anyway. They die on the street, on the toilet seat, while masturbating.. wathing TV (and masturbating) and doing other silly things..
Dying while playing a game is just another time that you spend in your life. And if MOST of your time is spent in front of a computer (like me) then there is a big chance that you gonna drop dead in front of one.

Seems to be the only explanation. If it would be that easy to die during online gaming a lot of people would be dead by now. very sad...

edit: Shizo, there's a difference between dying because of playing WOW or accidently while playing WOW or anything alse....and, these were kids. not 90years old.

Those kids died of exhaustion. I dont know how weak of a heart you would need to have to make that possible, but I imagine sitting in front of the computer for literally days without any pause could do that to you. Dehydration, lack of food, no sleep. That surely can kill you too if youre used to a normal life.

The thing is that it seems those chinese kids reach another level of addiction and fanatism than we can find over here. I think they might be dedicated in a really weird way to those games. At least I cant imagine doing that for a game whose reward usually should be fun, not death.
