I use the Gillette Mach3 razor and I like using it.. It gives me a pretty good shave.. Ive seen the commercials for the Mach3 turbo razor that allows to shave both directions.. has anyone tried the turbo?
I have pretty thick facial hair and I kinda would like to know if the blade for the turbo will fit any mach3 or if you have to buy a new razor altogether? |

I haven't experienced any problems shaving either up or down with the mach 3, so I don't see the point of a new razor... sort of like the one for women that's DIAMOND all of a sudden... IT'S JUST A BLOODY COLOR CHANGE!! |

you know. ive been wondering the same thing Awetopsy. i don't see why the new blades wouldn't fit on the old mach 3. don't know if they're really any good either. i have a hard time shaving against the grain. my skin feels irritated after, but its baby smooth.
but why the hell do they have to call it mach 3 turbo? sounds so lame. i think i'd be too embarrised to ask the person for a box of turbo razors. what are they going to call the next version "Mach 3 turbo R"?

Thank god for the random musings section. Where else would we go to find out what products our fellow artist shave with?
I use a Gillette something-rather. They sent me a free one when I turned 18 for some reason. I guess it turned out to be a pretty good marketing tactic because I'm still using it. |

i'm using a gillette sensor excel. Oh yea i like it. I don't think i'd like mach3 because it seems to be pretty bad for getting clear lines for the hair.
Oh yea i'm a girl so the same stuff doesn't apply really. And just to clear this out, it's not for facial hair. No beard on me ^^' |

Ever see that SNL fake commercial for the "mach 9"? "the first blade gets close for a smooth shave... the fifth blade gets even closer to get those pesky stragglers... the ninth blade... blah blah blah" it was pretty funny.
I love this thread

I'm sure you guys all know it's best to shave towards the end of a hot shower, right? It softens your facial hair by a lot, and it's twice as fast/easy.
I used to shave against the grain, but it got too irritating. If I have to shave during the day, I just use an electric one. I've tried all the "fancy" razors and brands, and they are all the same. All that "Mach Supreme Turbo Elite Triple Action Guard" stuff shave great when they are new. Just replace razor when the first cut happens, and you should be fine. |

well I have kindof uneven skin. so shaving against the grain is problematic at best.. I kinda like the idea that the blades are coated to prevent cuts and that there is another strip to help sooth the skin..
Balistic: LOL.. I laughed so hard the first time I saw that commercial. |

I always have problems with my skin. Whatever direction I shave.
What helps is to apply some baby oil before you apply the shaving cream. Thats an old barbers trick.
About afghan people shaving.
I've had someone tell me that muslim women shave all body hair. I have no idea if this is true though.
Any muslims here that can shed some light on that?
Razorblades are generally not interchangable. First they trick you into buying one of those sets that seem prettty cheap and then you have to buy insanely expensive razorblades for it. If you could just get the cheaper ones they wouldn't earn so much money off of you so... |

The Turbo R.. Man... I fell out of my seat when I read that.... ahh hilarious!! Yeah I was tempted to buy the new turbo... and give it a test drive! But, I have enough blades left to last a few months.. maybe the price will come down by then.. Oh and Gillete has sent me like 3 razors for free.. I got one on my 18th 19th and then when the mach 3 came out, they sent me one of those for free too.. And a little bottle of shaving gel!
Oh thanks for the tips Luna. |

:-D that would be very expensive for me. Up to now I actually never managed to shave without having some blood spots at my chin. (Im 27 now!!!) :-D
edraket: You say it. I wanted to give those mach 3 blades a try, but they just dont fit at my razor. :-(
Damn, I hate shaving... |

"hmm I think Id like the hair on top of my head to be a little longer today, and my facial hair to not be there." |

antx, that's very common... but a cut is a more 'severe' cut so to say. If you've got really sensitive skin blood spots will appear like that... You might wanna try shaving after a hot shower, or get an electrical razor. A good electrical one should help.
Just observations about boyfriends shaving, still no personal experience on facial hair... |

Asurfael: Funny to get cleared up about this by a girl. Thanx!!!
So then, a "real" cut I had only once so far. But this one I wont forget... I was pressing my handkerchief at my upper lip for hours...
While being on that subject: Alway when I shave I have this very strange thought:
Imagine you life in a big apartment building in the middle of the town and while you are shaving the building gets on fire and you must leave the building as quick as you can.
Well, I personally shave alway first one side of my face and then the other one (dont ask me why). And that must be very embarrassing, standing at the street in the middle of a big crowd with a half shaved face. And since I hate shaving so much I dont shave often but rather only when its really necessary.
I had this idea first when I actually noticed that I shave always one side first. And now I alway have to think of this while shaving.
So please guys, tell me that Im not the only one who shaves that way!!! So that I can say to my self: "dont panic! when it happens, there will be hundreds of half shaved faces down there...". |

I've often heard that guys find it much easier to shave with a good women's razor. They are generally more "gentle" and leave your skin smoother I guess? Especially try using some of the women's shaving gel. I've heard that lots of guys prefer it because it has tons of nutrients and stuff that girls like.
Of course, you gotta be willing to take a tube of pink shaving gel through the line |

If you don't like shaving you can always put hot wax on your face and rip the facial hair away...your beard wont dare to start growing for at least a week or so...i tried it once...felt like the skin was being torn off my head. but hey...smooth as a baby's bum for a long time without needing to shave at all
I seriously can't understand how women "bikini wax" that must be so excruciating. |

Nova - Believe it or not.... waxing under the arms is SOOOO much worse than waxing the bikini line. In my experience anyway. |

dude, totally, Jezebel. i don't really see a point in waxing armpits, it's not like they're constantly being exposed, like 'other' areas. by the way, what's the deal with nair anyway? they advertise it for legs and arms, but it hardly works either way! |

Ick.... Nair is evil stuff. I've tried using it twice, and both times it nearly singed the top layer of my skin off.
I supposed it managed to take a little hair with it though. :P

Nova - For some women, waxing is a way of life. I am definitely not one of them though. My razor is A-OK by me |

Man, my ex used my razor in a pinch once, and the next day when I shaved, I had cuts all over my face. I knew it HAD to be her, so I asked her, "Honey, did you use my razor to shave your legs?"
She looked really guilty as she stared at my bleeding face. That same evening, we went out and got her her very own razor to keep at my place. |

Jezebel, I used my girlfriend's razor in a pinch once. It works 100 times better than any of the "guy" razors. It's one of those wrapped blades; it had a few strands of wire wrapped across the razors to presumably keep them from deforming. Even with my heavy hand I never cut myself and I shave closer and faster than ever. Go figure. If your masculinity can take the hit guys, I suggest trying it. Lately, when I go into the bathroom I've been eyeing her "Secret" anti-perspirant.

the one thing ill never understand about a woman is this, they can pour boiling hot wax on their bare legs, tear out the hair by the roots, and still be afraid of a spider.
