In the last 30 months, I have found myself in such a malaise, the first 6 months being the worse then up and down for the remainder. The great news is I am alive, but what malaise do I speak of?

Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (or ALL). Diagnosed May 29, 2007.

I post this because I do not clamor for sympathy but hope my example will serve to inspire you all to live your lives to the fullest. Find your strengths and live life to the fullest. Don't hesitate to exploit your potential. Rain or shine, every day is a good day.

Saddened to hear that you're still struggling with your illness, but I'm glad to see you posting again.

Read any good books lately?

Thanks man. Don't be sad--be glad! Life is good, my friend, it really is.

As for books I had last year's Years Best SciFi and cleaned it out. Some stories were very good while some were so so. I read a couple of non-fiction books, both of which were very good, imo:

Deep Survival (awesome)
The Art of Effortless Living (very inspiring)

By the way, the illness is long gone, but the means of destroying it have scars; that's why people react so aversely to chemotherapy, as it destroys regular, healthy cells too.

The real struggle is with the side affects from what seem to be perpetual doses of this, that and another thing.

But like I said, being alive is good.

What about you? Still at Blur? Hows all that stuff goin' out there? (Use the messaging system if you want)

HUZZAH!

I'm relieved to hear that you're mostly dealing with side-effects these days, as unpleasant as those can be. While I'm sure it's not in the same league, I started on an anticonvulsant shortly after I moved to LA that caused me to pile on 50 pounds in 2 months. The upside is that it's been a huge help with my chronic pain, so for the time being, I'm okay with being a fat dude (I'm just not going to be taking my shirt off at the beach, fearing harpoons).

Still happily at Blur, just finished some visual effects for Bioshock 2 and Mass Effect 2. Enjoying a winter with no ice Smile

I'll have to think of some book recommends for you.

Keep on truckin' man,
