This is kind of a quickie...

More of the same, but the subject matter is something I haven't drawn in ages.

Thanks for your time
Francis

looks cool but something about the perspective bothers me. the bottom of his er... triangle mouth thingy seems to be at the wrong angle. either that or the top of his head..

I really like the very dark feel of your work Francis, but something bothers me about this piece. I think it's the curve at the top of the helmet. It seems to small for his head. Did you actually draw out the entire Vader head before then going into it with shadow? If not, then lots of times inherent drawing flaws rear their ugly lil' heads
All around nice piece though. And it's cool to see someone doing Vader instead of Maul for once. When's someone going to do a Wampa though? I mean..it beat Luke's Ass remember??

The initial drawing was of the entire head - I don't have that stage saved out, but I drew in red over the final image. I think that your comment (and maybe napalm's) may stem from the line curving down from the top of the head towards the face. I can see now that it could be interpreted as the other side of the head, when it's actually just the middle "trim piece" of his helmet. If that's not the case, please feel free to copy the drawing and mark it up to show me what you mean.

Thanks for the comments
Francis

Saltydog - you're right, looks a little disproportionate. Thanks.

The bottom line on the helmet is dropping downward toward the front of the helmet. They look sorta like droopy dog ears. Thie image below is a dowshot, but you can see that the design actually curvs upward. Also needs those eye tidbits we spoke of earlier...great for out of the head, and 20 minutes worth...

the helmet droop is in the prelim. Disregard my comment. Good choice leaving that part out in the final render. It just dawned on me that I wwas looking at the wrong image...

one more. The nose you drew is too angled. The helmet image underneath will help explain everything. Just little tid bits, but they all count in the end render...

Ahh...I see what you mean by the trim on the center piece. But to my eye the top of the helmet is still small. (This happens alot when people draw heads.) Here's a ref. pic I found that shows more closely the proportions of Vader's helmet.

As you can see it has a steeper angle on the forehead. Hope this helps.
