hey all.. I finally got sick of doing purely line drawings... I wanted to start trying a more painted look. Im working in PS 5.5
I need help with this. Im not worried about the anatomy or the cloth itself... I just dont really understand painting..
what should I do? should I do darker colours first and put lighter colour on top? should do the blocking and then the lighter coulours and then color down the scale to the darkest?
HELP!!

Hi,
I'm far from an expert etc etc but my tip is to "fill" the area with the general ambient color you want it to have, and then lay in highlights and shadows based on that. Begin with big brushes and go down in size as you put in detail..

Try starting at middle values and then work out to highlights and shadows. Nice rack.

Nice try..
Like kegie said, it's usually better to fill the entire area that needs to be painted with a general color, In this case probably a dull blue, from whereafter you can hightlight and darken using big brushes and long strokes first, and slowly, for more detail, start using smaller brushes, shorter strokes. Judging from your pic you know where light and darkness should be so that shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Oh, and you might want to put the line-art above the layer you color on so you can see where you're painting and perhaps set a darker background, the white can be quite distracting, especially when working on 'dark' images.
Hmm.. I think I've said too much. Oh well, I hope you got something out of it.. hehe.
Keep it up!
