Okay, I've been drawing on my architecture textbook with ol' printer paper, and with some dull pencils (i dont have a friggin pencil sharpener and i hate fkin up the knives with lead marking)..
anyway, here's a sorcerer i did.. i like it.. dunno bout the dragon.. lol if ya can even see it..
and this is some gal.. i drew.. she was on a calendar posted on my door.. but she dont look the same, but kinda cute ;D
and this is some vampire chick.. shes a messy eater
tell me whahca think.. i have been praticin coloring/painting in photoshop.. but they coming out crappy. it seems too blurred, even when i resize. i work on 1000x1000 pixel normally. i have to keep gettin use to large size.. because even if i did it at 3000x3000, it still looks crap when i resize it lol ;x anyway, wanted to thanks chaplin for his great suggestion.. im actually contributin i think

Lookin' good. I especially like the sorcerer - his posture, and his robes really give him a distinct feel. One thing that could probably be improved is the "sketchy" feel of the picture. What I do is to draw all my sketchy, exploratory lines really light, then when I find the place where I want the line, I'll go once really dark with the pencil. It looks a lot cleaner, and if you're sure about where the line is going to be, you can get a lot more bold, sweeping marks.
One other thing to pay a bit more attention to as far as line quality goes is the darkness of your lines. You can really enhance the picture a lot just based on how dark lines in one place are vs how dark others are. Generally, lines bordering areas of heavy shadow can be much darker - same with lines delineating the lower border of a shape. It'll just give that much more depth to your picture.
As far as the girl and vampire drawings, there's not much to them, so there's not much to crit. But pictures like this are really good practice for learning proportions/anatomy, since you can do them really fast, and it's easy to tell when you have it right or wrong. |

Thanks for the advice. The lines are extremely sketchy from my already-sketchiness due to the fact that I dont have any sharp pencils. They're all dull and stubbed, so I have to make hard strokes.
Although I was doing it all by head, and no reference (besides that one poster). My take on the sorcerer was from an anime called Record of Lodoss War - hench where my name came from.. Kardis (Goddess of Madness and Destruction). I really like their style of capes, and overall etchin-gilding-encruting, etc. etc.
And yeah its great pratice, and I wanted to thank Chapel for getting me motivated and drawing again. Its more fun than posting nonsense on the board. Now if I can only get any decent rendition out of photoshop or painter I'll be set.
