I keep reading peoples' posts, and many say that "it was fun painting" this piece.

Personaly i don't find it fun at all, it's a lot of work for me and i can't say i think of it as being fun. It's fun when it's over. I feel good that i have created something.

May it only be because i am just starting out ? Or perhaps because that's simply me ?

How is/was it for you ?

It's definitely challenging. But I like challenges, and you learn new things with each piece. And you get better with each piece. I get totally euphoric after I finish a painting. Like you said, the fact that you created something is a great feeling. But no, I don't find it easy.

It's not fun in a monkey island kind of giggle way, but I definately do apreciate the process because it's so relaxing for me... But I think some subject matter is more fun to paint than others...

Strada, i think i can agree with you in a way. Thinking now, i realize that when i paint something that goes well i feel satisfied in a deep kind'a way.

i do actually enjoy painting, but not always, when i feel i go round in circles, i just get pissed off. but when i feel im making progress, there cant be anything to keep me off the screen.
the best think has to stay when i finish the picture just that feeling of yes!!! i made it and im better now!

The masochist in me says it is fun to paint.

I can't paint crap though. Or should I say I can paint crap? Either way...

But I need the creative outlet. Drawing alone just doesn't do it for me.

part of the fun of working on a painting is that it's challenging, if everything was easy, it would be too boring.

I really think it's all about the piece you are working on. If I'm painting something I'm not interested in(for work), such as the interior of a room, or a whole city full of tall buildings and thousands of windows, I'll get really bored and find it painful.

But, if I'm painting people, or something alive, it can be a real pleasure.

But, to tell you the truth--out of all the creative things I enjoy, painting is the least fun. Writing, composing music, and photography are all more exciting than painting. Painting is the most mathematical to me, since it heavily involves problem solving. But with the other three, it's a much more direct emotional involvement.
