Welp, you guys helped me a bit with my self portrait a couple weeks back.. this weeks project we have to make a portrait of a famous person and add 9 things to the portrait that relates to them. I chose Thomas Edison.

It's too big to be scanned so I had to take a digital pic of it, and of course it makes the colors a bit wonky. But in general does it look a little like the man? Granted, I don't think I'm great yet, but I am starting to get some of the concepts down finally. After all it's only been 3 weeks of school. Also, this was done in colored pencil.



Things I choose for the pic:
1.) He was a trainboy when he was young.
2.) While trainboy he started up his own newspaper called "Weekly Herald"
3.)He invented the Phonograph
4.) Enhanced the Stock Ticker
5.)He had a bad ear (the phonograph in the ear to help him hear)
6.)Received a Medal of Honor from Congress.
7.)Was given a Gold Medal
8.)Invented the Light Bulb
9.) Was voted the Worlds most useful man.

I have never liked colored pencils, so seeing a nice colored pencil drawing is nice. The only 2 things that really jump out at me is his hairline where the train is, it just seems REALLY far back but with the train there its no biggy. And what color lipstick is he wearing?

I do really like the skin tones you did a nice job on the shadows and whatnot.

Oh and how big is it exactly? Colored pencils + large picture = death IMHO

It's 14x17, yeah I was trying not to make it look like lipstick as much as possible.. Guess I should go back and take it down a notch.. *BAM!*.. heh
