My cyber demonwas built in lightwave with texturing and touching up in painter and photoshop. I never got around to finishing the model though (no ears, hair or body) but i was happy with the way it turned out.

Okay heres the big image, "demon with an attidude" this was one of the odd occastions i put more then 15 hours into one image. Its rendered and with a huge amount of modifications in lightwave.

This was originally a poser 3 casual male mesh. I rebuilt the face completly, i then added horns and ripped up his clothes, i lost uv maps through importing the model so i needed to reapply surfaces, retextured the entire model(i kinda got a bit lazy by this stage so the skin on the torso and arms are a bit on the smooth side)
After a render that almost killed my computer (I ran out of ram) I took the image into painter and photoshop and added all the little fibre details to the clothes and added some fog at the base of the image.
Anyways i hope ya all like it.

Sorry if you have seen this post before but I didn't name it very well so i think no one actually veiwed it.

looks good man. I do alot of 3d work myself I use max and maya for my freelance. Can I ask how you did the clothes? It looks like to me like you kept the body and all as the poser body... photoshoped in some horns that you modeled sepratly and painted the clothes on after the render. Either way it looks good. Your combined techs look good to achive the finsihed look. If you did not paint the tattered clothes on how did you get that look? Would it be possible to see the wire model. peace keep it up man

I exported 2 poser casual male models one with clothes the other with out. After importing them into i rebuilt the head and added some horns to the side of his face and shoulder. I then started to delete sections of his clothes and added small holes and simple torn areas by deleting single points. After that i deleted the left over fore arms and feet so i then could add the second poser model underneath the clothes minus the head(there is no poser model underneath the clothed areas).

After a good couple of hours of modifications i went onto working on resurfacing the model to make it easier to texture, after retexturing the model i rendered out an image at 1000x2000 so i could work on it in some detail with photoshop and painter.

I drew in all the fibers using my wacom pad and added a couple little details such as the horns on the belt buckle, some extra highlights on the skin around the eyes and abit of stuble which the jpeg compression destroyed so its difficult to see in this post. And just to add to the mood of the picture i added some ground fog using difference clouds and alot of overlay effects. This all took in the region of 15 -16 hours of work spilt almost down the centre in 2d and 3d applications.
I will post a render of the model without the post work when i get home so you can see the way i created the clothes.
