Thanks! And yes, that's just a sketch with digital color under it. I don't ink my stuff much anymore. Not sure why...I guess I just like the look of this technique better. You can find tons more of my art at my website, http://www.nethersphere.com/. I have a lot of digital color, along with some marker illustrations and sketches...

Ohhhh..hey I remember you I invited you here awile back....maybe you where already here?? Anyways this looks great..you have a great eye for color...though most people look up to G.Mullins here so you won't always get the best response from cartoon coloring.. |

Milkman... that was cold.
It's sad when one person put on a pedistal skews the opinions of a large group. Idolizing one type of art makes people unable to appreciate all types?? I thought artist communities would be less closed minded than that.
Moro, great pic, the colors are beautiful, the setup keeps your eye moving.
... Cartoons... BAH. |

Moro
I checked out your post and your site earlier this morning. I had to go through and look at all of your work becouse I liked it all so much. Dig the cat characters you have incorperated into your work. They are very realistic. YOu have a good sum of fan art to. Any way, I was just checking back in to see it again and give my coments. I like your coloring and line work.
I hope you continue to post here. This is my first pic ive seen of yours here and I am glad it has led me to your site.
Cool burito beens!

Hey all. Oops, posted this in the wrong section before. I was told this is the right place for this sort of thing.
Last time I asked what you thought of my coloring, and the general response was that my stuff needed more contrast, and I should try using "cuts" when I color, so I gave it a shot. This image is a combination of cuts and airbrushing. I think it makes for an interesting combination. Tell me what you think..
(augh...my eyeballs still hurt...I think I spent over 30 hours total on this (sketch and color), with a short break for sleep)

Wow, this is pretty cool! What's it for? Animated cartoon series? It's got a semi-disney look to it...i especially like the cat-girl on the upper right.

Moro, that is beautiful, I like what you did with the cuts and the airbrush. You have a great sense of color, and you're obviously a skilled penciler as well.
I'm confused, are these characters your own design? Either way, this is a great piece.
Well, I'm off to look at your web site now.

Heylo,
Wow! I'm glad you guys like my stuff. I was rather nervous that it would be considered too cartoony for this forum. All of these characters are my designs. They're from a story I'm working on that I *hope* will someday be told in some form of sequential art. I don't want to call it a comic...but I guess that's what it will be. If I ever get around to doing it...
I'm currently in school (well, I took a year-long break but now I'm heading back to get my degree. I want that piece of paper that says I know what I'm doing, even though I had myself convinced I didn't need it.), but I also work for a small company coloring comics. There's another user on this forum named PhilJaeger who happens to be the inker of those same comics.
Well, I'm off to work. Slave, slave, slave!

What the hell are you morons talking about?? I just said that people here mostly like painterly style. I think it is obvious I like her work. I myself do comic book style coloring...she has a lot of talent and all I was saying was basically dont listen to people who give you bad feedback here because for the most part people like painterly work...god damn have a F%&$ing heart attack....

I really like, It' snice to see diversity on the forum. The piece is very nice, I am gonna take a look at your site in a sec, lov the poster. The skin is just brown though....kind of a nono in the painting world...but I dont know about your style, or comics. liquid has good use of warm and cool, not that you should copy, just an example.
keep it up, it's grrrrrreeeat!

Stephanie: This is some great work. I think a few of the members are overlooking the fact that you drew and colored this. Knowing how to draw already puts you at an advantage to most colorists.
Just a few suggestions for you to look at. Be careful where you use "cuts" to render things. Not every surface will use them. Also, it looks as though you just used a hard brush to try and make your cuts and not the lasso tool. Use the Lasso Tool or the quick mask to make your selections then use a large soft airbrush set to screen at a low opacity or multiply for shadows.
Work on your edges. Not everything should have a hard edge. I think I gave you a link to a tutorial on that before.
Your eye for color is excellent. The way you rendered the feathers, metal, and the glass are great as well. I think you should probably keep at drawing more. Your composition skills and drawing ability are pretty damn good. How long did it take you to do just the coloring? One thing to keep in mind is speed. |

Great work. . . great composition.
My only crit is less side shots and more 3/4's . . . all but one of the faces are pointed more to the sides than the front. If the top right large head faced 3/4 or even more to the front, it would balance it (in my view).

Wow, id definitly hang that on my wall.
i think it turned out rather well. only a few things i can crit on but it would be personal preference i guess.
im not too fond of the pink background, doesnt really fit in...
the uh thingy cat thing on the top right you used a completely different coloring technique, so that kinda sticks out to me...
and you only have secondary lighting on one place in the whole picture, the blue on the guy in the middle... but the crystal is closer to the demon guy? secondary lighting really adds depth to pictures.
everything else i think is great... the rocks and crystal thingy are awsome! and i like the elf girls hair. really nice.
oh and if you dont wanna call your story a comic, you can always go with "Graphic Novel"
