well here is a piece that i think looks pretty good. I spent about 5 hours on it in painter, and used some clouds out of National Geographic for refrecnce. please tell me what you think.

the clouds look good, man.
if u practiced on clouds than it's a good job. i've seen better but those are just fine.
the mountains though look too blurry to me. i think they could use more defined lines

but clouds look kinda dull

well i did what i could to make some improvements, mainly in the cloud area. i thiiink that the mountains are actually worse now especially the left one, but oh well, im over it.tell me what ya think!

Matt Ryan: Nice work on the clouds. Good choice of colours.
Clouds, like any other subject in painting have form. They may be made up of gaseous water particles, but they have a definate shape and depth, recieving light and casting shadow.
Here's an old cloud pic of mine (Painter) which I picked out because the subject was particularly cumulous. http://www.cee.hw.ac.uk/~ceenda/cloud.jpg
I think that there needs to be some clearer seperation of the clouds with the sky and some deeper contrasts with the main cloud itself. Otherwise, the pic is very nice indeed.

wow, great painting, i love the shadows on the the cloud. I see what you are saying though, mine are a bit too poofy. ill try to condense them a little in my next painting. here are some of my eariler cloud paintings if you are interested..
