the pipomonster.
made 3 years ago.
again.
because... (sad music)
I didn't draw anything since 1998 ! Working in french videogames killed my motivation.
Doing crap work for crap games with crap people with soooo much ego.

and... one day... i found the light.
Sijun's forums.
And i saw a lot of good works, and felt the motivation and the talent of people who help eachothers with simplicity, just for art sake.
and it works !
haha!!!
i feel the urge to draw something !

S.

Dont care much for the composition or pose of the character....but your rendering of this painting is AWSOME!

I REALLY dig the texture the character has...and your lighting is just great! I would like to see some kind of background dimly lit behind him.

Post some more...I am very interested in this. Would like to see more stuff from you.

The face is amazing, almost looks like a 3d rendering. The bonyness is kinda creepy though. *shudders* ^_^

Hahaha..I know that feeling. That is sooo typical.
I moved to even crappier work after the games. Now I am in architecture. Which is soo crap that I have to do something creative at night to stay sane. It works quite well in a twisted sort of way.
Sijun is really a really great inpiration though. Certainly.

thanks everyone!

And it's NOT Mr Burns !
It's his father.

Robert Ashley: you're right about the pose and the composition. I didn't plan anything before starting, and i did the painting very quickly (a few hours) without thinking... Actually, it was my first real experimentation with the wacom.
You can see another painting in the forum:

here:

geoman2k: you're right too. The lack of sharp edges is due to the use of the airbrush tool. At this time, the brush tool was still a mystery to me... Don't want to finish it or modify it, it's too late, i guess...

Dr.ZuLu : you're the 3rd in two weeks to ask me this. I amazed someone remember me, and Movement too! It was a long time ago... I'm really happy to see that a lot of demoscene people are on this board. Actually, i missed the motivation i had then when i saw other bitmap artists pictures every weeks. The thing is, the sijun's forum spirit is better than the old demoscene one, because here art is not a competition.
