hey - seeing Ballistic's Nevada pic I thought I'd give you some more desert.
A few weeks back I took my motorcycle out in the Mojave Desert. It's about 1.5 to 2 hours North of Los Angeles. I went there to just have a nice long ride and take some photographs.
That day was really really windy and it was a bit of a pain to fend off the gusts that came across the freeway.
Once out there I just took a left on Avenue A and kept going straight. I saw a lot of ... nothing. I had to go through a little sandstorm, that's why I had to put a cloth over my face - otherwise I would've gotten sandblasted.
The crazy looking rock formation is the Vasquez rock park. Neat.

Impaler, being that the rest of us can see the pics fine might suggest that there are a lot of red X's in New Mexico. |

Desert envy, probably. She's swallowing all the phone lines en route to my house, thereby stopping all transfers of pictures and preventing me from moving to another, more attractive sandpit. |

SHizo: actually - I like that tint. The reason why it's tinted is because I was holding the camera in my hands to shoot it. I forgot to close the gate to keep light from bouncing in through the viewfinder onto the CCD when it's not covered by someone's eye.
And I tried to fix that by cc - I like that tint, luuuv it!
Thx |

When I drove through Neveda, I stopped on the side of the interstate to take pics of the awesome desert. A cop drove up and told me it was illegal to stop on the interstate, except for emergencies.
Me, being a smartass, asked him, "What if I spilt coffee on myself?"
He answered, stone cold, "It better be some damn hot coffee."

Those rock formations do rock. Check out those tiny people. I wouldn't have known the scale of those rocks without them climbing up there. |

I grew up just about 20 miles north of those rocks. The only time you really notice the wind is when it stops. It was crystal clear when I grew up there (the only really good thing about the place), but more often than not, the greater Los Angeles basin pukes that thick, heavy air into the valley. Too bad. |
