Hey, two in a row? Makes me look bad! ...squeeze one out for me?

Tonight's effort was with Painter 7s Default Oil Pastel brush and a custom canvas texture.

Screw you for being so damn talented, Mr. T!

And you look really young too, which pisses me off even more.

Seriously though, great work dude.

Damn, 16 huh?

If you keep soaking up the artistic knowledge of sijun and producing work like you are now.... Dude, by the time you're in your mid-late 20's, you'll be kickin' so much ass it's not even funny.

I really wish I had things like the internet, digital painting tools, sijun, etc., when I was your age. I can't even imagine the type of work I'd be producing right now, if I had the guidance of so many talented artists when I was in my teens.

Keep at it dude, I can't wait to see what your skills develop into in the next few years.

Take it easy,
Malachi

Mr T: You really have a head start on all of us. Makes me feel good seeing you put your talent to good use!

Today's was done using a Painter 7 modified Pencil variant. Terrible lines, I've got no sense of it yet. Still, it's done.

Mr. T,

Great work on your self-portraits, I just have a question or two if you don't mind.

What technique do you use to create the textures created by the pores on your skin? I'm just breaking into digital painting media and I'm looking for as many tricks as I can find.

Also, do you take direct referance from a photograph of yourself when working out color? Do you simply go by eye, or do you go as far as to use the eyedropper tool to get the exact tones you need? I'm trying to find my groove with color and have been having a tad bit of trouble.

Alot of people have told me I have a gift for being so young and having the talent of artisticness (I'm 18, not THAT young), but frankly, you blow me out of the water. Congrats on that one ;D.

n8: thanks

malachi: yeah internet is a really beautiful thing- i would know nothing if it wasn't for it. many people on sijun and other forums gave me extremely valuable pointers and advice. i'll be seeing you around i guess

torstein: actually i did this portrait and decided to do them daily when i saw your portraits (which are amazing- the first one is excellent)

J.Der: i didn't use anything specifical to do the pores; when you apply "sharpen more" filter it creates an interesting subtle texture that could pass as pores. the portrait was done using a mirror, and was done in grayscale. i filtered and colored over it- purely from mind (was merely an experiment). for color work i practice by copying photographs, and eyeing the colors. with time you get sharper and more accurate on the color changes and stuff. in the art world nothing really happens overnight... i realized that and quadripled my efforts in learning lately.

edit:
september 27th
was listening to In Flames a bit

Mr T: Glad to have got you started!

Tonight's (done with Painter's Basic Round Tinting brush) is a bit on the schloppy side, but fun trying out a limited colour scheme. I need colour practice badly!

Hey, excellent stuff everybody!

This is my 10th sp-day in a row, and I'm getting cramps... gotta loosen up some more tomorrow. Today's was made using basically the same setup as yesterday's (no blues or greens).
