The man who was killed was firmly against firearms, drugs, alcohol, gangster culture, etc. He really was a positive role model within the hip hop industry. Don't making sweeping generalizations, ceenda. Shall I assume that because you're Scottish that you're some fat, haggis-eating drunk? Hardly.

Hmn, you'd be closer than you think. The consumption of haggis and/or my weight would be down to public opinion, but as for the alcoholic, guilty as charged.

It was actually a sweeping and uneducated generalisation (or otherwise known as "my opinion") of hip-hop in general. Hence the reason it's in "Random Musings".

According to the article on BBC news:

"Unlike some other rap acts who appeared to glory in the imagery of gang warfare, nothing in Jam Master Jay's past linked him to thuggery."

Being shot dead for any reason is tragic, especially for the families and relatives.

I just don't like two-faced PR people trying to be Jacks of all trades.

Chill.

I saw a documentary on Run DMC the other night and apparently Reverand Run and DMC picked up Jam Master Jay 'cause:

1) He's a good DJ.
2) He had power in the hood.

Any time DMC or Run had issues in the hood, Jam Master Jay would clean it up. With that kind of power I'm sure he's messed with some kind of thugs one way or another.

It's sad to see an artist that revolutionize pop culture pass away tragically.
