Hi, I'm working on creating a portfolio for freelance illustration. I've just finished a BFA and so I'm sort of getting back into the swing of things in terms of fantasy/sci-fi drawings. Anyway, here's something I worked on recently, let me know what you think

Well, Im the last one who should be saying my opinion since I'm not nearly as experienced or advanced as everyone here but I'll give it a shot.
I like the idea but there are some things that look weird. First it's that grey fog you got there (if it's fog that is), it makes the image too bright. It seems like you meant the fountain of green sparks to be the brightest lights source in there but, the grey fog lights things up more than it's supposed to (or maybe I'm just not getting what you're trying to do).
Also, I'd put more intense white sparks in the heart of the green fountain to make the thing look brighter, because it's mass sure looks like it would be brighter, you should also consider making the sparks brighter or glow a bit.
Other than that the rest is cool, I like the stone colom in the background, the strairs look great and old, the figure looks like a strict and powerfull or obedient guy and that red glow is cool too. |
