Hey again !
Just thought I could share this. I made this for a friends 30 years birthday. It's a sort of portrait of him, of course from head, but luckily I had a couple of pictures with his face on so it was easier for me to make it look like him, giving away a portrait which does not look like the person is pointless..anyway I made up the rest of course and the shadow and tones. It's not often I try oil, but it's always a pleasure when I do - so you "artrage" guys, pick up your brushes, its even more fun, hehe !
Anyway, take it for what it is, I'm not a guru technique wize with oil, but I feel I learn a bit more about the medium for every picture I do. It was nice to finally do something on a canvas from imagination. Since this friend of mine and his girlfriend has a minimalistic taste with interior, I made the graphic outline and grey background to make it fit more with their style. I also used only Black and White, Cadmiun Red and a bit Yellow Ochre, since their taste pretty much goes around Grey and red. The picture is about 1 meter in heigh and 50 cm width, so def. the biggest oil I've ever made. Hope you like it.
This was the initial idea sketch I did, like a 15 min sketch colored on computer just to have an idea what to make, but as you see on the final piece I changed quite a lot.

Thumbs up, great portrait, I'm sure it fits perfectly in your friends living room just above the Arne Jacobsens chairs.
Must try oil again, looks good. _________________ Yeah man but it's a dry heat... |

yeah, to paint in traditional media feels good.
I started to paint in acrylic a bit more often since i had some PC Problems forced me to do. But never tried to paint in larger scales ... perhaps because you have to spend some more money for larger canvas and more color ... and well, im a poor student.
But i have to do too as this great example shows how great it could be!
Would like to see a photo shot in place with his interior as soon as possible(i guess his birthday ^^) _________________ Lars Gtze

Hey guys thanks a lot for such nice comments about my painting, I wouldn't expect that.
fiend, thanks !
joe84, Thanks man !
cicinimo, thanks. I agree oil is often a lot more interesting to see live, you get a totally different impression.
Duracel, Hey Thanks Dura. Yeah large canvas is fun, I haven't done that before, atleast not this big. You don't need to nitpick that much, when you paint it's like you got a constant zoom And you need to get a bit further away to get the overall impression...I like that...but very hard to sketch in this size though. You asked, here you can see it on the wall, though not placed were it will be, but atleast what you asked for
sear, oh you are too kind.
tiger1313, Thanks man.
max kulich, thx !!
