Real awesome stuff, is that terrain in clay above? Really love the moons.
I missed that you mentioned the home movie in here. So in your story, has the earth been destroyed by themeselves or from something else?
You know if the earth expanding theory is right, it could have been what destroyed Atlantis? I have heard other theories about Atlantis though, if you have heard about Tsarion?
Keep up the good work in here durgl, I am gonna keep following this thread now.
I hope you will finish the horse with a mane and all. |

QD, the terrain (now numbered t005) is clay, yep. Glad u asked, I've been meaning to number everything, for clarity.
Re Earth being destroyed, it would still exist (tens or hundreds of light years away). It doesn't play a part in the story, other than the origin of the terraformers.
Hmmmm... never heard of the Expanding Earth theory, or Tsarion (Michael Tsarion?) - but that can be fixed:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expanding_Earth
http://deletionpedia.dbatley.com/w/index.php?title=Michael_Tsarion_%28deleted_25_May_2008_at_11:12%29
lol@ "Program 1: Atlantis, Alien Visitation & Genetic Manipulation", interesting coincidence (re this story, ie. Perzan's experiment).
The horse... I'd want to pose it before adding the mane/tail (make the hair dynamic). Which means learning how the joints articulate, etc. - I barely know that about humans (which is the priority), hehe. Maybe I'll get back to it, some day.
Glad you like this stuff - thanks. |

According to Tsarion there was a world war with nuclear warheads in ancient India some 10 000 years ago. Maybe we had a technological advanced society before?
Tsarion though, shouldn't perhaps be mentioned in serious discussions since it is hard to prove, I really find inspiration in it though. He is very much about the celtic and druid heritage, mysticism.
Expanding Earth theory really makes sense to me, you know apparently the moon decreases in size, even according to Nasa lmao. Which would explain this as a growing and shrinking process, maybe a steady force in the planets? Just like we are breathing or something.
Here's a 10 minute video about the expanding earth.

QD, I agree mixing mainstream science and personal/'alternative' theory is not
a good idea. Gotta have inspiration though.
Interesting video - but he lost me (too many disconnects?). I'm glad Neal
Adams is paid to be a comic book artist rather than a scientist.

From the archive, first concept for the "withered moon" (or "apple moon").
Terra Group are the bad guys (their side job is weapons, yep)...

Lots has changed in the plot (am working on a point-form summary) but the
moon hasn't; it isn't completely destroyed, the attack is deflected (hence,
apple moon/withered moon...). But the fallout is enough to (eventually) kill
everyone on the planet.
If my math is right - lol@ Tzan's post, "Math is the weak point of all artists I
think"; was just thinking/fretting the same thing - assuming this moon is about
the same as Earth's moon (73 quintillion tonnes), if 3% is blown off that's
2.4 quintillion tonnes that could enter the atmosphere...
Here's a rough (below). Dark spots are the "middle mantle" (haven't decided
yet if it has a middle mantle; still digging/considering...) - the gash is from a
three stage warhead (each successive stage making a bigger hole) but
penetrating only the surface...

I'm very much a visual thinker.
In school I would get mostly a grade of C in math classes and straight A in physics.
Anything I can draw a picture of I can understand, so abstract math is very hard. |

Tzan, I hear ya (I flunked both maths (except the geometry part) and physics
and chemistry; similarly, aced biology without opening a book; visual thinker,
yep).
Another oldie (below), runaway global warming (knock-on effect re moon; think
I've posted this once before, in another thread...); still gotta educate myself on
this too...

Okay, here's the background (below). Will change again, no doubt, but not much.
1. Perzan wants to retire and take his secrets with him
2. Terra Group will have none of that
3. P chooses Spiria (the planet) to settle down, raise a family (see his
daughter, upthread)
4. His residency/pet project is illegal
5. TG blows the whistle and Perzan goes turtle
6. TG tries to destroy the moon and blame it on P's machine
7. TG feigns withdrawal and starts a secret ground campaign
8. P's machine has been 'recording' all regional life forms since his arrival
(those who have died can be duplicated, personalities/minds included)
9. Some of these are [protagonist] Ratoa's friends/kinsmen so he's hooked
(if saving the planet isn't motivation enough, lol)
Remaining plot (the actual action/story) is constant rewrite, will post when
it's sorted. |

2011 cull/backup (ongoing) - found a bunch more forgotten stuff,
so a bit more then-and-now - the short version.
Western Patel Grand (see globe, above):

From yesterday... Too ambitious, will rework later (no suitable reference handy, at a glance).
BTW I realize I'm leaving black blotches where high contrast/detail should be
(foreground), a kind of shorthand, I guess, while I figure out overall lighting - or
something like that).

Looks like an art from Shadow of the Colossus. Did you get your inspiration from that game? |

Hey QD, it's going good, thanks.
Doing 3D of a different kind just now : major renovation in our apartment
building - suddenly I'm hosting the contractors (lunch breaks, etc.) and helping
too (mostly with demolition, hehehe )...
Didn't expect this (thought my part ended when they finished my unit) and not
sure when I'll get back to the story (they'll only be here another week...) - it's a
nice change, though.
[Edit: outdated link removed - the upshot (kitchen wip):]

Cool kitchen.
Yea demolition is perfect for blowing off steam. If one think about it everything is probably creative. |

Kinda strange, after so much talk about doing this online, we're doing it privately
now. It's actually progressing though, which is the main point/goal.
Some basic stuff... Below: blue = Kettara; green = Patel Grand
Ratoa starts a routine exploration to the southwest - until he sees the moon
'explode', then changes his mind (lol) and heads south...

Possibly interesting (or not), circa '90 (when the story was an all-out fantasy/mythology):

The globe is facile - what!?
Thanks for the feedback, T_England. The images you link/mention are two of my
faves, dunno why (minimal but effective, or something...).
While I'm here: the story is changing in leaps/bounds/somethings - is stealing
attention from the graphics side. Might be a while before anything is solid
enough to post (enough false starts here already?). Generally I feel guilty about
the whole thing, or something... |
