I have a couple projects i wanna make simple websites for (1 pagers). Buying webspace for each would be a waste.
Can i register a few URLs with an outside service and point them to subdomains on my main website? Do web hosts tracks this at all (do they care)? |

Hosts wouldn't care if you did that.
When you register a domain with a registrar, you usually change the "DNS" values to point to the server that will be handling that domain, but I think most registrars would also give the alternative option of setting up a redirection instead. So the registrar would handle the domain, and calls to the domain would be redirected to a URL.
I remember seeing a registrar charge for that a few years back, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't a free option these days.
You probably won't get great stats that way, but if you don't care about stats it'll work.
If you current account has room for more domains then I'm not sure there'd be a downside to hosting them on your account though. _________________ Art Links Archive -- Artists and Tutorials |

Cool,
With my host, the domain names are only available along with web space. But i used another service before which has url forwarding. I just wanted to know if i could get jacked by my host for doing this. |

My buddy Screenhog was using my webspace for quite a while...
he had his own domain and just redirected to a subfolder in my webspace. |

1 more question.
If i use this masked URL forwarding, will it affect my search engine results? I'm planning to put this project on google ads, but i'm worried it might affect traffic. I hear that meta tags don't matter anymore, but then can the search spiders look over my page without problems? |

I'd guess that stuff will work. Can't see why it wouldn't.
Though make sure that the forwarding used by the domain registrar retains the domain name, and doesn't change the URL to wherever you're redirecting to.
I suppose that means you want something more like "aliasing" than "forwarding". But each registrar will have their own approaches. _________________ Art Links Archive -- Artists and Tutorials |
