Anyone loving this demo? I'm running the minimum spec PC and even on the lowest settings, the game still looks great. That's pretty amazing in my book.

I can't get the fucking cloak mode or any other suit modes to work at all. Default key is 4, but clicking on it does nothing. 5 does nothing for me too. I assume when you click on 4 you're supposed to cycle through suit modes like strength and cloak?

I've been playing it some - it's pretty darn neato, for sure. I've been playing the easy setting which is still hard. Lots of key bindings, though, which make operations clumsy for me.

I'm trying to get grips on the Sandbox2 Editor; someone needs to post some tuts.

Been playing this one, too. Awesome stuff. I agree about the key binding, though. Also, the control of your suit's power is clumsy at best.

I love having almost a fully interactive island-sandbox to play in, though. Smile

Anyone pick up and choke a chicken yet? (No euphemism, either!)

I figured out that using the suit mode menu is far better than toggle suit mode. I still don't know what toggle utility does though.

I see in the promo video all the crazy shit you can do with various suit modes (like strength), but I haven't been able to pull off anything impressive yet. I can use the speed mode, the camouflage mode, and the armor mode, but haven't found a use for strength mode yet. Maybe pick up a car and throw it?

I just played through it. It was was like a Half-Life2 with plants.

As with HL2, my fave bits are where it gives you a large area to tackle however you see fit. I'm really over FPS games that funnel you along a path.

The story stuff is reasonable. They don't do themselves any favors re-using scenes from Predator and Close Encounters though, and the dialog is predictably gamey. Heading in the right direction let's say.

AI is reasonable too. Better than we've seen in a lot of FPS, but still some way from what you'd call realistic. I'm not sure how "realistic" would work in a game though.

I really do like the engine. This is what I wanted to see back around Quake 2, and it's taken a while to get here. Continuous landscapes, huge viewing distances, lush vegetation, and detailed areas. Nice.

Although having said that, it's strange how much this game looks like Trespasser. Or at least what I remember Trespasser looking like. Minus the dis-locatable arm.

I had been planning to buy this, but now I'm not sure. I might see what the Call of Duty 4 demo is like before decisioning.

I'll be getting Call of Duty 4 in the mail in 1 or 2 days. I liked all the others and the trailer looked good.

Crysis Demo: Heck ya. Im running it on my 3 year old pc and it seems to be ok. custom settings of course but still looks pretty. couple of great "WOW" moments for me in there.

Call of Duty 4: My buddies bought it for me for the 360 and all I can say is Absolutely awesome game. Ive never really been into the call of duty series but this new one is fantastic.
There's a more emotional attachment to this new game for me. For example: [Spoiler alert]The scene where you take on the role of the helpless arabian president getting assasinated and seeing the whole thing from his perspective. You really start to feel for the character even though he's only there for moments.[End Spoiler]

There have been several moments in the game where I just sat back and looked at the screen mouthing the word "wow".

I highly recommend COD4. even if it apparantly is somewhat short.

Apparently the best settings for my less-than-one-year-old dual-core PC is "everything set to Low". Ouch.

I tried it everything at High just to see what I was missing, and (1 fps aside) it looks GREAT. Really is a nice engine. Shame it'll be a generation old by the time I have a PC that can handle it.

It has high replay value. You could play it through half a dozen times and not tread in your own footsteps. And there are things in there that you'll only see if you do play it multiple times. I like that.

I might have to get it, just to encourage this type of game design.

Have you tried to use all the suit modes? In what ways are you using them? What about the utility modes? I can't even get that to show up--or it's simply not available in the demo?

No way. I have a P4 2.8, 2GB RAM, and an out of date X1600 video card, and I'm running a 24" widescreen on 1280, with everything set to low, and the game not only runs smoothly, and also still looks great.

My friend has a quad core, 4 gigs ram and two 8800's in sli and it was unplayable on high detail which is a bit disappointing, I presume only the next generation of GPUs will be able to run it at that level.

Click and hold the middle mouse button, gesture in the direction of the mode you want (eg. forward for speed, bottom/right for cloak, etc), and release. The game explains it during the ingame tutorial part of the demo, where you reach a rocky cliff and it suggests you use strength to jump to the top.

I figured it out eventually, but my problem was that tapping "4" which is the suit mode toggle didn't do anything. I had to figure out that you have to hold it down to activate it. And even then, it only toggles between two modes. I eventually realized that using the suit menu was much better as you can access all modes at the same time.

What about the utility toggle ("5")? That doesn't seem to do anything.

I don't know what the utility toggle is. Maybe that's the gun-modifier? (accessible by pressing 'c' or bottom-left in modes)

Crysis, according to what i've read from the developers, is meant to be so graphically dense that essentially no consumer computer will be able to run it at full tilt at an acceptable frame rate. I guess they're coding for the future.

Me? I've given up on PC gaming for just this reason and haven't looked back since. I luvs my 360.

P.S. Awetopsy: you gotta try rocket race on halo 3 if you haven't already. it's the most fun i've had yet in that game.

The CRYSIS has been averted!

I dont judge how good a game is by how many times I die in the end battle. What a pain. I dont mind a few deaths but that was crazy.
