sorry if this is a repost but i couldn't find anything comparing the 2 sizesi
've never used one before but have wanted to for a long time. my main thing is design / graphic art and i'll be writing music with it also. with illustrations i draw and scan but will be colouring on ps. i like the idea of having a large canvas to work with with large brush strokes but is A4 best for me? one thing i don't want to do is go a5 and wish i'd just spent more on the larger option. will be using with a 17" macbook pro.. |

thanks for the input. when you say 'will do' would there actually be more advantages using the smaller a5 tablet than the a4? the price difference i've found is only about 90 or so (a5 for 210, a4 for 300) basically would want to go with whatever would suit me in the long run regardless of price. i'm only skeptical as when i draw i go for A3 sketchpads i find i run out of space with A5 and A4 even but don't know whether this would translate to tablet drawing or not. only downside i can see with the A4 is the longer arm movements needed. like the idea of greater accuracy though.. |

I started with an A6 way back when, then I had an A5, now A4, and I must say each time I switched the difference was huge. This depends on personal preference I suppose: I know a lot of people prefer small sketchbooks, I feel an A4-size book is kind of cramped still... But consider that Wacoms seem to be pretty durable, I've never had one break yet, and can't remember offhand anyone who has, either - apart from user error (coffee etc.). So maybe you'll use yours for five years, and then switch to a newer, better model, maybe you will use it longer. 90 pounds divided over that amount of time isn't so much. OTOH, an a4 is of course larger in general, so if desk space is at a premium... I tend to keep mine in my lap actually. |

I broke my Grip Pen yesterday. Kinda angry about loading times, overtired... So I broke it. Patched it up again, it works. But two miniature springs gave up their place in there. No clue what they're for. Any ideas? _________________ CA SB|Flickr |

i used to use an A6 tablet, on a 20" screen, but last xmas i got an A4, and i find it better for detailed work as the size of the tablet is closer to the size of the screen..
thats why i said an A5 would do on a 17" |

the way the stylus communicates pressure to the tablet, is the coil compresses inside the stylus which in turn sends the information back to the tablet as it compresses or expands
one of the pens also has a soft nib, where when you place pressure on the nib, it pushes into the barrel of the stylus |

I have a 17" iMac at work and use the smallest graphire (4x5 I think) For $40 off ebay it works great for me. I'm a smaller drawing pad for the most part. It's all going to be about personal preference and how much money you have to spend. |
