samhell, It works really well with the combination. Nice detail on the ship. Smile

Oops, I didn't mean that I think overpaints are a no-no, btw (samhell).
Sometimes I get lost in what I'm trying to say (illustrated lots of times
hereabouts, yessir). Embarassed

whom, not over at cgsociety, no; sorry - only in Sijun! Wink

Oh dear, I seem to have made a new page... Shocked

durgldeep, Nice a new page. Very Happy I remember when we celebrated a new page in this thread. Smile Any thoughts on joining the dark side and Cgsociety in the near future?

Maybe you Samhell too regarding joining cgsociety? Smile

Oh yes, page three (didn't even have to look, hehe):
http://forums.sijun.com/viewtopic.php?t=42471&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=60

Hope that link works - man, lookit those early days in Blender (ouch that
hurts, lol). Am not that much farther ahead now (all that mucking-around in
sculptris, etc.), though it's a lot less intimidating - nice abstract/gear image
on previous page, btw

Think I checked out cgsociety a couple times already; maybe I even have
an account, wow I forget... Didn't appeal, for some reason. Do u enjoy it
there? Will think about it, sure (think a bit more - three's a charm?). Smile

Gotta get an image happening here - almost done a first pass on the
Blender/octagon guy (base mesh)...

definitely lol, spent days trying to figure that out - who would have thought
that lights/lamps cast shadows (was looking at object options, of course)... Very Happy

Starting to agree. Just took a very long look - and realized I completely forgot
about subsurface modifier, lol. No wonder (Blender klutz here)... Wink

Not the 'octagon guy' below, a new one, wip (subsurface is a game-changer,
yep...) - was those glasses (on page three) that reminded me. Thanks. Smile

durgldeep, Yea Cgsociety has had its problems but I think it is the only forum nowadays that is worth browsing, at least. Blender forums etc becomes too much and too much focused on technical details...

My idea was to keep in touch if you want?... would work better for me in Cgsociety. Let me know what you think.

Did this in Sculptris a while ago - my first try with sculpting in general Embarassed
I started with a simple base mesh and rendered out in 3dsmax. Since I messed up the head and can't do any hair,...well : )

Check out cgfeedback.com instead of cgtalk. Much more professional, and no dumb moderator drama. It's a little harder for amateurs to get critique there, but it's a great place to soak up some of the cutting edge techniques of people who work at Weta/ILM/etc. They have some fun community challenges too.

Max: great sculpt, by the way.

No worries Durgldeep, no misunderstandings took place. Smile

Whom, I went to look back at the earlier pages of this thread.
I really miss seeing your surreal 3d landscapes. They still made
me pause the browsing. I still have a profile at cgsociety it
seems, but I have not used it for years.

Max That sculpt looks gorgeous!!

Balistic Was just about to say the same about the
moderators of cgsociety. I was active there when I started
painting, but eventually lost interest as the challenges got
more irregular and because of the moderators. Sijun has
been much more rewarding in every way to me.

WIP spam, overlayed with original ballpoint sketch. I'll
block out the spacedude next and start the overpaint.

whom: how much is Sijun paying you to get rid of me. Very Happy

Max: mesmirizing Shocked First try, wow...

balistic: "moderator drama" is partly the impression/feeling/expectation I got
from the, uh, barbed wire and dogs (TOS etc.). Probably not for me...

samhell: phew! Wink Inspring stuff there, nice nice. Confession: I'm not really
with the attention span police so u can relax, okay? Smile

Whom: Is that the sound of an overpaint I hear coming this way? Razz

Durgldeep: Thank you! Short attention span is a curse when
I want to finish things. Confused And in all honesty, I'm milking these
sketchup renders to the last drop and doing at least a few paintings from
each. The point is make it worth the effort to create the models in the first
place and also to build narratives with a set of paintings. That's a concept
I've been thinking about a lot lately.

And to all: this burst of sudden activity is awesome. I've really been missing this. *grouphugs*

At CGFeedback? Yeah, but I've hardly posted anything. Most of the 3D stuff I do is covered by non-disclosure agreements. I've thought about starting a sketchbook thread though. Might encourage me to paint more often.

Appreciate it. Smile
But hmm I was hoping for keeping in touch over at cgsociety or perhaps similar forum. Can't lure you over to the dark side of the force?

Samhell, thanks. Smile

One mesh, same technique (9,811 faces (small, yep)) and a start on the suit
of armour (upthread). But hey, that looks kinda steampunk, hmmmm...

Really like the pyramid thingy that popped up out of nowhere...

Edit: with inspiration from samhell and Tzan http://forums.sijun.com/viewtopic.php?t=41901&start=0

durgldeep, the renders looks absolutely gorgeous! I'm really
loving the polygon look.

And funnily enough, the character's pose combined with
the landscape makes me think this is some sort of new
pantomime indie game on steam. Very Happy

Shocked discreetly searches "pantomime game steam"...
http://store.steampowered.com/about/

After AD&D (addict) have stayed away from games except for minimal-poly
NWN. Have to agree (+ bias): power graphics don't make a game writing
does. Smile

Edit: thanks for the appreciation, guys - definitely the *last* scratch-build
(figure) I'm ever doing in Sketchup, heh. Smile

(See how long before I roll back on that one, hmmmm...)

Edit too: now it needs a steam locomotive space ship - with cow-catcher (you
know those space cows, always in the way...). Very Happy

I'd like to have some of whatever it is that you've been having for breakfast... Razz

p.s. AD&D is the best, used to play the old school pen & paper version like crazy.
