A number of people have been asking me to do a tutorial and if i could give them my skintone swatches. The tutorial I have no time for at the moment, and the swatches...
I know i coulda just posted the .ACO file, but atleast this way you get to see the pretty colors to decide if you want them.
*NOTE: these are my base tones..i mix and match from these.

I know this might seem harsh, but it is for your own good
Why do you have skintone swatches at all ?? Doesn't that prevent you from getting the correct ligh, reflection and colors fitted for a skin inside an enviroment. I can understand this if you were doing a cartoon movie and every single frame had to be equal, but for a picture with enviromental shading, the use of finished color swatched would just make you more handicapped.
I think this has been mentioned/discussed in earlier threads as well.

Yeah we've been discussing this before...
Pretty colours, but it would'nt do much help
in the long term. There are no basic colours
that can be used for everything i think.

but for all of his images, they're <so far> faces in the daylight..of women with pale complection, i'm sure he varies from this palette, but these are most likely the colors he uses 90% of the time
just my thought,..
i do this similarly<sp>,. but then again i'm not as good with detail,.

Just remember that flesh is a reflective/absorbant surface like anything else. It will take on hues and values surrounding it. There is no real digital pallette that can comfortably be called flesh. Pinks and Orange hues tend to look very artificial. If you are depicting a person at sunset, with an icandescent light illuminating him what flesh colors do you use? Just be cautious digitally. |
