Well, I think most of us have 56k connections or slower. I just thought I would let you all know that a few months ago I saw a tv program about a new type of internet/networking solution. These people were using Power Lines for data transfering. If they can get everything running smoothly and the Govn will let them use it, the connection would be 10x faster than a t1 line!!! I think we should be expecting it in just a few years. Also, the only thing you need is a small box that plugs into an electrical outlet and connects to your computer. Pretty sweet if you ask me.

Cable is good. Too bad for you because it's a US Based company and they've only done testing on our lines so far. I don't know if it'll effect you guys in Europe or not because of the voltage difference.

just to inform you,
i remember i saw news about this on TV when i lived back in russia (2 years ago) but as i remember this system would not let you send data, only receive, and you'd have to use phone lines to send impulses for receiving data

that's what i remember from news of 2 years old

Ya... or they have now Wireless Internet connections. It is a sattalite dish hooked up to a special modem... *I THINK* that you can transfer somewhere around 11MBPS thats Eleven Mega Bytes Per Second. WOW! But I think it costs like 400$ a month or so....

Recieving is 99% of the time it takes to get something. Sending data can easily be handled by 33.6 modem. Unless of course you're playing games or have to upload a huge amount of files. I'm sure they will work around sending stuff by the time they get the technology approved and finalized.

I might be getting a ford focus tomarrow! (it'll be my mom's mainly but I'll be paying for a lot of it so we can afford the thing)

Ummm, our computers already DO use powerlines. You know... for POWER, hehe. I don't expect that the extra voltage would be that significant that it would make your computer explode in the event of a power-out. Besides, just get surge protectors.
