This is my site's new splash image. No reference used (obviously) and took me about 2.5 hours to do ...
Another sunset, I know ... but I luv them. Actually, the 'castle on a rockledge' is an ongoing sujet that keeps me occupied for several months now ... one day I'll make the perfect 'castle on a rockledge' image, I swear!!!!

Hoodz ... hmmm - that's not that easy as you expect - and also - it would be a tutorial that shows you how to paint a 'castle on a rockledge' - how often can people use something like that ?
That image was actually painted in the resolution you're looking at right now. So, if you take a close look you can see what I used. Also - I mostly used the paintbrush with 'size' and 'wet edges' checked and worked in layers according to the elements in the image - started with rock and castle, then the bg-mountains & sky, then the fg-trees and so on ...

This is beautiful, Loki! The evening atmosphere... with depth color change and fading... and beautiful silhoettes... a tremendous amount of life in the brush strokes... stunning!
I'd give it an 11 out of 10, because this one goes to eleven.

great looking, just add more to the sky..it looks like a cheap gradient or something..to really set the effect put some "rolling" light clouds faded into the sky with blue edges reflecting distant water...you know. have you ever seen the sky at sunset? its so magnificent looking, its not just a faded background.
the rest is very nice |

psi: yeah - it's a cheap gradient - I got it for 89 cents at Wallmart. I'd like to use more expensive ones, but unfortunately I don't have the money.
Maybe we should start a "Luxury Gradient's for Loki" fund - so please gimme your change ...

This was a sooperquick image - I know what you mean with backlit clouds - but I actually did this during lunchbreak (more or less), so no more time. I'll do another rockledge image soon anyway ...
kurisu: thanks dude - don't make me blush!
Thanks guys!!! |

you need to resort to sarcasm for a little comment? thinking logically you could safely assume i meant cheap as a fast or quick way to finish the art. note i did say the image was very good...dont think otherwise. calm down big guy. |

psi: thanks for your compliments, but - I love sarcasm, as the oldtimers on this forum know ... and even you'll get used to it. As did my mom, my girlfriend and my therapist ... |
