I moved recently and stumbled across some figure drawings I did in the spring of 1980 (yeesh, I'm gettin' old). The reason I'm posting them is that there has always been discussion concerning this topic and also, the topic came up recently of how you drew then, related to how you draw now. Hopefully my two cents may help some folks...
I am fortunate enough to live near Sir Flickstone (glad to have you back Ron and trust your Pop is on the mend)and will be taking a class taught by him and the other fine folks at Watts Atelier in Encinitas, CA. Other than the occasional quick pick of my dog, I find myself drawing less and less (note to everyone! Don't let this happen to you!) and I'm curious as to what I've lost and/or retained over the years. I'm also posting because the class I took way back when, I mistakingly signed up for, but it has been the most important and influential class I've ever taken (so far). I encourage any and all of you to absorb any and everything from life and DO try this at home...
Anyway, enough of my rambling...
Then - three minute pose
and now - three second pose
I'll post progressions (hopefully) over the next few months if anyone is interested.
Cheers!
-Kris

Thanks Luke. I was old enough to be changing your nappies back then! Can you guys see all three? I can only see the first one and just get the URL for the next two even though the address seems to be o.k...

*walks away from screen with tail between legs*
I've read and searched and have become fearful of doing exactly what I just did. Must be the age. Any diapers in need of changing?
(mine - won't post pic )
Thank you Joe! |

Here's a couple of large figure drawings I have done recently. That's why they are all chopped up, couldn't get them in one scan
I know they aren't very good compared to most of the artists here, but I'm still proud of them since I had never done any figure drawing up until this semester.
The second one was my first attempt at a foreshortening exercise so I'm fairly pleased with the result. Even though she has funky feet

Take off your clothes. It's OK - I'm an artist.

LOL!, yeah Tinusch I realised how that could have been interpreted.
I meant that i had no idea how old he was, so for all I know he could have been three at the time and in that case.....you get it.
Fuck if I'd seen someone else write that, I would have been a little more harsh......what a crack up. |

Dang, I read 20 year old figure drawings and was expecting drawings of some 20 year old. Of course I had simply assumed it was a girl, how male of me.
However, these drawings were good enough to make up for my initial dissapointment. haha.
-Great drawings Waldo
