hello and welcome
well, I messed up your picture, but hopefully it will give you some ideas on how you can improve it.
Fist of all the main proportions need some work. Maybe you should read some anatomy books like loomis and see how he builds up the head and face structure. This helps even though it's supposed to be exaggerated or not.
Light: it can be nice to use your own head as reference. Atleast, when brushing it like you have here, it's important to plan out a certain lightsetting. to shade it but with no certain light angle or contrasts will just make the picture flat and boring.... hope this help a bit, I'm really lousy at explaining myself sometimes, sorry. But, maybe this little rework can give you some ideas, even though it's probably not the way you thought it should look like ?

Joachim - I'm speechless...
What an awesome rendition. Nice and loose, yet nice touch of using the facial plane change as your highlight area. Looks really solid.

Spiiiiiiiig !!!!!! You are not suppose to touch a computer for 7 days you know, hehe. Yes, I've dodged and burned for the first time in a loong while. Actually, it's kind of fun when doing something really quickly. Mask a lot of areas and dodge & burn your ass of
Anyway, sear, I'm using Photoshop.
greenduck, Andrew Loomis is his full name. The book about sketching the head and body is called "figure drawing for all it's worth" , which is the one I personally find the best from his series. But, since they are all out of prints, it's only possible to buy two very thin outdrafts from it called "figures in action" and "drawing the head" which are quite ok infact...you can buy the others in auctions though if you are willing to spend some money on it.
here's one picture from the book that can help you:
anyway, thx for liking my quick brushover liquid and masacc. I won't say anything more, because this is really not my thread but greenduck's, so I don't like taking focus away from his picture
