I used to wonder where that cheesy music you hear in malls and stores or whatever came from.. and I found out. Now I'm pondering something else. Maybe somebody knows.
So I opened up a bottle of my favorite lotion today and wondered.. who in the world comes up with those smells? Like.. does every company like that have a team of people that just work on scents? Hm. Yea. It just kinda hit me today.

thats exactly what they have...sometimes its just one guy who sits around mixing different things till he get scent and says, "hmmm...I've smelled this before. Eric, com here. whats this smell like to you? Coconut?"
there was a museum a while ago that had a dinosaur display and wanted it to be more realistic, so they hired one of these scent gurus and had him make "Rotting Flesh", "Infected wound", and "Tooth decay" aromas(Not sold in stores) for them.
strangeness.

Heeey, you forgot to mention where that cheesy music come from...
And to answer your question, yes, they have a panel of people to "scent-test" the product. |

thanks guys... my life is now complete
The music? It comes from a radio station of sorts called Musak(?) that the stores playing the music suscribe to. I guess they can choose what music is played and stuff. I wonder what they're titled.. cheesy music number 1, 2, 80's hits, annoying soft rock.. ehehe..
And that music plays all day and all night.. no commercials (unfortunately).

See "Why McDonalds French Fries Taste So Good": part 1, part 2 (from Google cache, the article isn't online anymore). The article talks mostly about flavors, but it mentions scents too (the same companies that make flavors for food make the scents in perfumes).

the way Muzak syetems work:
Muzak systems run 1 cd on loop all day which contains music that the board feels fits the store...the music is either a generic "smooth jazz" cd, or a pop music compilation from a recent movie that doenst contain any "questionalbe content".........ehy,,,,,,,........fucibawcfofiaowfb;oiwbe cycjk fyckj fckf yckfuck

The TA.XT2i Texture Analyzer, produced by the Texture Technologies Corporation, of Scarsdale, New York, performs calculations based on data derived from as many as 250 separate probes. It is essentially a mechanical mouth. It gauges the most-important rheological properties of a food -- bounce, creep, breaking point, density, crunchiness, chewiness, gumminess, lumpiness, rubberiness, springiness, slipperiness, smoothness, softness, wetness, juiciness, spreadability, springback, and tackiness.
veery interesting.....

I thought about all that weird music you hear and wondered "Where the hell does it come from?". Then I remembered that hardly anyone I know, or anyone in this country maybe, listens to the music I listen to.
