That's right, it's a Finnish sniper at work with his M-39 rifle (he isn't using a scope because that way he can keep his head lower while aiming).
There's some problems with the shadows, helmet and his hands & face looks quite unfinished but please feel free to leave any comments on this one.
No, I've got no plans to colour this one! |

I think it looks realy nice. His face and the coat looks pretty sw33t. Anyway, I thik you should do something with the left hand (from his view). Give it a grip around the rifle. And also make the rifle more detailed.
Just suggestions! |

Great! Composition and black & white works, too.
I know it isn't finished, but the barrel of the gun becomes lost - right now it looks like he's holding a steak
Also I liked your landscape you posted in the gallery forum.

A very very nice start! Try to work some more on the hands & the gun. M-39 rifle?
Looks like more like a russian Mosan-Nagant M1938..but maybe they were almost the same.

M-39 is actually based on Russian Mosan-Nagant, it was the final (and the best) version of that rifle I think... But you already knew that, didntcha? However the soldier's wearing a German helmet & it's summer so it must be a non-Winter War scenery.... ok, surely it can be a captured rifle, but hey, I'm not trying to be historically accurate with this.
I'm moving on with the colour techniques so I'll leave this b/w as it is for now. Thanks anyway for all the comments. |
