I dunno, Ive always liked the rusty metal look.....

looks good to me... except make the background smaller and leave the logo itself the same size....

basically crop the background.

The background and logo are way too similar. Try adding some contrast with more brightnesses. Or if you want to make the background look shaded, multiply it with a dark but kinda blue-ish color, to give it a cool shadow type look.
