These are some additional simple light/color studies I've been doing. These are colored pencil, but there are digital paintings in the series too, so I thought they'd be okay. They are making good Christmas presents too!

The lightbulbs look sweet! Why's one lit (yellow)? Good work! |

Like the flowers a great deal - really nice colours. Makes them look very organic / papery / dry.
Your style doesn't work quite so well on the lightbulbs, they don't look shiney / glassy enough imho.
Keep up the good work Ampa. |

Thanks for the nice words, all.
hydrid: The one bulb is yellow because it's a "bug" light - it won't attract insects when lit.
Ampa: yeah the style suits the dried flowers more than the light bulbs. My work never seems to have a "slick" look, but rather a visceral, textured quality. |

Following on some of the above comments, does anyone have any general suggestions on how to acheive a more shiny/glassy look (on lightbulbs or other things)? |
