Aright guys, I wanted to post up something after reading Chapel's thread. You're totally right man. I realize im not too good at coloring but I had done this a lil while ago. I have done 2 versions of this, this one which is a dark type of image and the other is an all around clearer one. Ive decided to put this one up for now.

Well, there ya have it, go easy on me guys
If you wish, ill post up the other version later on in the thread. Thanx

Thats a pretty cool looking concept there. It looks like you have two lightsources though.. judging from the head and the barrel of the gun. I'd stick with the lightsource from the left and move all your highlights towards that side. You could probably put a few more in like on the neck and the shoulder. Keep at it!

Hey Seph - hadn't seen your thread before this - sorry.

I guess I should have made myself more available to you since you're in town and all - sorry about that too. =)

I think it's too dark and contrasty, where it's hard to decypher the shape of the creature, and thos little bright bits like the throat wires, eyes (which are not looking at anything we can see as important in the scene) get all the attention because they are way brighter than the rest.

Introducing more shades in your gradients will take away some of that cartoon look. Effects such as smoke and all should be kept on a layer appart and put in after all the rest behind is shaded, or you'll be experiencing hell trying to fix something behind it otherwise.

=)

Try to see just the lights/darks and make them form a good pattern. This is a bit spotty.
