How many of you guys use the smudge or blur and if so how? I like smudge alot, but I'm trying not to become dependent on it like some piano players become dependent on the pedal. |

i use smudge often on organic things like skin or flesh. i use it for making the edges of shadows or lights smoother or make them follow a specific fold or sth like that. |

I don't often use it, but when some stuff gets too 'painterly' and the brush strokes are too visible, yea .. i use the smudge tool. It makes things nice and smooth. Other than that, no. |

I find the smudge and blur tools to be very valuable in my work. Couldn't make realistic skin or hair without them.

I don't use them too often, but they can be useful. I think the blur tool is effective for decreasing areas of edge hardness. We never really perceive a hard edge, but our experience with objects tells us, in our minds, hard, sharp, soft, etc.
The smudge tool isn't all that useful to me. |

I don't use it at all... maybe because i think the brush strokes can have certain expression, beauty. Think about it. |
