I've been working on this for ages and finally decided to call it a day and get it out of the doors. I'm not completely happy with face, hair or background hills, but I think the focus should be on the wave and rider so I'm leaving it as is.
Itching to move onto something else..

I like the pic, and the reflection is the best part. On the other hand, I don't like the board to much. To me it seems like he is standing of a pice of cut paper. I would have done something with it! |

Extremely well done. I really like the way you did the water.

Definitely, the water looks superb. I have trouble reading the surfer, tho, he's coming off as too rendered -- too plastic. You may want to paint more color variations, especially his skin.

Hey Oli_D
Sweet picture! You should have something like "your advertisement here" on the board for now while you try to sell it to a surf shop!

Good work. Like the water.
But the board looks like it's been cut out...
Needs some more work. Wouldn't take too long i guess.
Image: Try to lower the contrast for the background, ie the hills. It'll add more depth.
The board:
1. It has no shadows.
2. It's got no reflective light.
3. Hard to figure out it's form/shape.
Keep it up!

Wow!!
I didn't expect to get this response after the post fell to the bottom of the forum!
I said before that I had finished it but now I want to try and improve it - I guess you guys have restored my interest in the piece.
Hopefully I'll be able to post an improved version soon.
Thanks again

NOW it's finished honest
...or at least to my satisfaction. As suggested I added a few reflections and a basic design to the board. It really makes the original look incomplete by comparison.
Really gotta work on faces though..
Thanks for all the constructive advice..
