I've been watching this thread for a few days, trying to get a handle on what you guys are doing. Such amazing work done loosely and quickly-totally different from what I am used to doing. I still don't really know the 'rules' of what is good or not, but here's something I did while on the phone, about 35 minutes. http://www.donperkins.com/speedpaint1.htm
It's a female cosmonaut if ya can't tell.
This is REALLY fun even if it isn't 'correctly' done. Thanks
For some reason-i'm lame-I can only post a link, not an image, sorry.

mr. T: aye sir, been dig'n the old posts for quite some time now. And what a journey that was! (confession: i was using your and mr. mullin's postings as a trace. the later had me change my religion at some point )
so, thanks a bunch!

others: great works! i enjoy each and every one of them! (wow, i've been changin wallpaper everyday)

well, this is my other speed shot. about 60 mnts.

it was used to practise the light effects upon different objects (so please bear the unproportional finger with me ).

would anybody be kind enough to give me some pointers on how you make the light lines and the shadow work when the light source came from front of the object / the viewer's side?

a lot of thanks in advance.

30 minute special while I was watching a really bad movie on AMC. I actually went TOO far with it. It looked better at one point.

Tried to play up the materials and put some contrast on this one, also practiced drawing the hand . I was planning to put the full pose (holding a briefcase and stuff), but figured i wouldn't have time to do it, so i just did this:
'coated metal'

and here's a little fun concept for a small game:

how do you get smooth transitions with brushes like in the robot or,to a lesser extent, in that eye?

woo-hoo. got my first tablet (graphire) yesterday (no more mouse work for me!)

and been struggling to adapt with it ever since (apparently not as easy as it looks, eh?).

oh well, here's the speed painting i came up with. took a bit of time (about 2 hrs i guess..) and decided to stop before get too caried away.

and now it's nap-time, dammit!

any pointers will be most appreciated. (i too want to improve!)

Sporq: I that eye is driving me crazy, I can't tell what side the nose is supposed to be on. I wouldn't change it though, it makes it way cooler. It's like one of those pictures.....

Spiffy.
