I painted this today in remembrance of Mary Hansen. Mary Hansen was a guitar player and vocalist for my favorite band Stereolab. She died Monday in a cycling accident. She was 36.
its unfinished looking to reflect how I feel about her life....unfinished _________________ SolarFlux

they are my favourite too and i thought i would still have chance to see them all playing in CA...
btw SolorFlux this is a pretty cool piece.u really captured the lighting of live concert.I know u were painting it with great sadness..

Yes, I was hoping to see them if they played UCLA again.....even if had to catch 50 busses and walk all over socal....but now, I don't even see how the group can go on.
To me, Mary was one of the key ingredients....every bit as important as Tim or Ltitia. She brought alot of warmth to the band, and can never be replaced....even though I didn't know her personally, I feel like I lost a loved one. _________________ SolarFlux

u know solarflux i feel the same when I hear Mary's voice...
last year when they came to SF I was in my home country..Later on I asked my friends in UCLA to checked out if there was any ticket but they were all sold out.....
these are all fates. And like the fate of all great band who lost their important members,Stereolab will go into a different direction and might have the risk of going downhill...
Damn! they were so standing out and different from most of the music groups in the world, but this tragedy gives me a feeling that this ship(lab) is gonna sink... again.... |

i think that you've done a nice job on the face and indeed you have picked very interesting colours. They really enhance the mood. Pink usually leaves one feeling at calm and peace, however the shade you chose is just PERFECT for the subject.
Things to work:
1. the hair looks a little solid. I don't know personally how to make realistic hair, but I"m sure somebody here does.
2. The hand needs to be remodelled
3. The guitar needs to be foreshortened and lighting used to show perspective.
Overall...nice mood! Well done!
Don't know who she was but I bet she doesn't play Sinatra. _________________ "Oh what a tangled web we weave
