It looked like anime from the previews...but it isn't. I haven't seen it yet, and I'm probably not going to.

are you serious? ive never seen a more unbelievable display of 3d technology + art in a movie...
if youre referring to its storyline, ok it wasnt the greatest, but like i said in another post...dont be so close minded to new and original plots. it seems the only movies that are considered "good" these days are ones based on tragic real life events. in other words, completely unoriginal and overused ideas.
and come in, if you can honestly say you werent stunned by the visuals in that movie you need to seriously take another look. the dredge (is that the spelling? i forget..) are amazing looking, similar to archons in starcraft. everything was breathtaking. |

note: the hand drawn art wasnt the best, im mostly referring to the 3d mixtures... but if you like to look at character actions and emotions, you'd see that the animation is extremely close to human nature...just by the facial/bodily expressions and movements in the movie. theyre acted just as a real person would.
and the soundtrack was great also... |

I dont know about you guys but Iv already managed to start a flame war over this movie in another forum and dont intend on doing it again.
All I am going to say about the movie is that it had great 3D visuals, sorry 2D visuals (too Disney for me), and had a razor thin plot. In the first 10 minutes I pretty much knew what was going to happen. As for the ending.. if it said 1 billion years latter it would have been more believable, Im sorry but it takes far longer than an hour to create a planet that shows signs of erosion and weather I can only put myself in suspended belief for so long before things just get stupid.
And know Im not implying that you (you=anyone who liked it) are stupid as well, Im just saying its not my type of movie.
And before I get flamed for having an opinion that differs from your own I know your just defending your point of view and not the movie you didn't make
.Well I hope I covered everything..
other than that
.Blah

Don't get me wrong, I thought the 2d/3d imagery was great, but the story was just plain lame! Seriously bad character development.
I almost walked out. It kinda of annoys me because it's a waste of talented artists.

Yeah, I go with Jyashuwa.
The story and char dev are the most important part in making a movie. After all movies are made to be viewed by public, right ? And that means not all people are interested in the techniques. They're more interested in the story. Only artist like us and art fans appreciate the techniques used in the making.
So, who wants to flame me for saying that? Anyone is welcome..... |

typo, i meant to say "come on" not come in...
i basically went to the see the movie because of its visuals, so thats why im not really complaining about the story.
any other movie i usually take in mind the plot, movies like braveheart, etc...where the storyline is basically the entire movie.
but i mean like..independance day. that movie itself even had a horrible storyline....aliens come, mess up earth, we kill aliens. the only reason it was a success is because
a.) the graphics
b.) will smith
nothing else was that great...so thats just my little "analogy" if you will |

From what I have read the drawings was ok, but the plot sucks big one. Ok it goes as all stories do... Maybe if the bad guys win once and a while some of these movies would be more believable and more interesting. |
