...and one oil, I wish I had a big scanner cause this piece was cropped and matched still this is only half of the painting.
Think I prefer oils actually.

yes, matthew, stick to oils. your brushwork doesn't look fuckawful in oils and you actually have some taste for colour in that media. I sincerely hope you keep up the good work! |

>Pringle : tx, great posts, for the grain texture, its was just big strokes on a layer, eraze some part and put the layer in dissolve mode.

Thanks for the compliments on my sketches...
Note for Matthew: I noticed a discouraging comment or two about your digital work popping up after you posted your (admittedly better) oil sketch. However, I just want to add two cents here. Digital art is HARD. I would definitely agree that you should keep on practicing in oil--you will learn a lot more a lot faster, simply because you don't have to worry so much about looking all the options in Photoshop/Painter/whatever you use, and about co-ordinating movements on a drawing pad with lines on a screen. But don't give up on digital. It's good to have as many tools in your box as possible. While you're just starting out, my advice would be to try as many different media as possible...figure out which ones you enjoy the most, and which yield the best results. _________________ Dignity isn't important. gally0:
That's exactly why I started the "trying to be more French" weeks in my sketchbook at conceptart.org.
Amazing!
And Swarm ... that one too! Too good!
[edit]
Matthew ... yes I think you have a style.
I guess since you made some Pierre inspired images.
Me likes btw.
Don't really know why everybody praises the oil image soo much.
I mean I love it but I think the watercolor one is even cooler!
I'm totally in love with that one!

hey guys, thx for all the comments people.
Socar, many thanks there for your comment.
AndyT, dude thx, you have been really supportive with my stuff and I really appreciate that Andy, once again thank you.
About ugly brushstrokes, hmm not sure what to say really.
I am standing by my earlier statement that for me speedys is to conveying an idea and then you put it down, kind of like those Thumbnails some painters are doing. I think cleaning up is something you can always do but something that takes time.
ok getting tired here and I am not really sure what I am typing anymore....so I see you guys tomorrow.

Zhuzhu--the recent pieces--are those just default Photoshop CS brushes? They look very nice and natural--which is kind of surprising for Photoshop. (I haven't tried CS yet.) |

i make some custum brushes, since photoshop 7, you can paint with texture. photoshop cs's brush seting is the same thing. _________________ I am the king of the world! hahaha^-^ |
