allpetter, thanks for the crits. I think it's kinda dull too, it's the crappy
ground that ruins it all. maybe I should fix it...
eol nice colors on that last one:)

Thanks to all for the encouragement on the oil fiasco. Based on that, I am wading back it to pound my head against it again. So far I have a mild concussion and two loose teeth. Frost, wait till you are rich and famous and can be my patron, I will paint whatever you want:) I will take another shot of it, but only if it gets better, if it is worse I will reclaim the canvas.
Zhalimuto, yes, I would say Wyeth is definitely an influence there.
Wigin, popeye, thanks!
Chapterx, yes I have seen matte artists do the most awful things with oil paint, but their goal is not to paint:) Fine line work is best done afterwards with grease pencil, sharpie, prismacolor, absolutely. There won't be any books of my stuff anytime soon, there is not a large enough demand to make it worthwhile
.
T veil- smaller pics are the digital sketch done a while ago. Saturated colors are from crappy photo mostly
Watmough-using canvas. You can cover things up in oil, but you have to let it dry first. I am too impatient and I want it to come quickly, also I such limited time to work on it. Oil takes time, unless you have a lot of mileage. That about sums it up.
this actually looked OK before jpeggin

thanks alot misc! you better be careful...i think i'm seeing some real improvement on that pic of yours...
spooge, thanks for the reply....yeah i guess i just havent been willing to really sit down and spend the time with oils.....acrylic is just so much easier....for me.
also, that pic is AWESOME!!!holy crap.i really like the design of it,the way you played light and dark shapes....super nice.(sucks about the jpeg though)

some really nice stuff here, keep up people.
[edit]Spooge that's damn great, my laptop showed all the shadows flat black, now that I checked on my CRT, Geez!
just a composition test, and I tried to somehow separate the fore, mid, and background.. so much to learn that its depressing.

XIA, tiger1313, spyroteknik, Bandados, allpetter, Roma, Michal: Thanks guys, I tend to be very hit-and-miss with these so it's good to know where I'm getting things right.
Mon: Haha, thanks. there's a little Dean in all of us...
allpetter: I like the tank-buster. That's an A-10, isn't it?
Max Kulich: Still has a great arctic feel to it, nicely chosen colours!
eol: I'm really liking these. Sharp and very effective.
spooge demon: I've probably asked this a million times (and that's probably just last week... ), but do you tend to see the entire picture in your head as you do these? Or does it tend to start out rough and then 'come about' of it's own after you've settled on lighting etc.? |

IM totally wondering What your basis this off?? Hahah.. I dont know i mean Theres probably more then a few thousand Artist that know your work and Admire it. And im willing to bet at least 80% of them would bye any book you put out. ANd im just talking about Online artist that browse around these forums. My whole school Knows of you and 99% of them dont even know about these forums. And everyone of them would dish out the money to buy your books.
You should put a Servey on your site . " The art of Mullins Check Yes or No" and see what the result woudl be. you might be suprised =p. Maybe im just selfish and want one of these books =p.

Old one. Made with mouse, when Elfwood was THE place to be at (that is, a year ago ). Been thinking about improving it, but it's so boring to go back and change old stuff
