balistic, if you soften just a few of those shapes and edges in the right places, it would look quite real. I like the drawing of the dino, very efficient indication.

watmough: I love the abstract architecture on page 486.
NeFF: I like the riders face.
Mon: I admire your sense for light, color and shadow from the moment I saw your work. It's a vast inspiration!
Nyqvist: Thanks. I will.
dylancole: I had no idea you post here ... awesome speedies.
Fiend: Yeah, nice movement on the last page. Though I like this one here for anatomy reasons better.
balistic: damn ... brilliant.
ax--hv: lovely color sheme on the vampire but .. er .. weird pose. what is he doing?
more bald heads with breast spotlight. I'm not really happy with it.

Thanks for the warm welcome back.
Spooge, love your mermaid.
Roma, I think your girl sketch is very effective. Nice energy.
Here are a few more recent ones-

SPOOGE : what do you find about Painter IX, how does it feel improved in practical use ?
It looks like Corel took a look at the Artrage oilpaint engine and implemented that. _________________ If there is no God, who pops up the next kleenex in the box? |

Longyvde
I like the expression of the riders face.
spooge demon
I wish to give you yet another compliment on your great art.
Because I LIKE IT!
Roma
Real nice charactaristics
Igino
splendid hue colors.
Appealing composition!
Great work on both your latest speedies.
dylancole
Your work is amazing.
Sometime in the near future
when I will sit down and learn and studdy design more.
Your one of the names to get inspiration from.

Learning how to paint abit better actually seems to have proven to be usufull when creating textures for games...
Speedtexture, Timelimit: 5 minutes
mhmmm!
I found one of my very first brickwall textures in my old backups...
This one was made for a ww2 mod for quake three.
Must've been during my very first years using photoshop.
Year 2000, 16 years old. What a numbskull not looking to much on how other artists worked.
I bet I would have been twice as good if I did studdy my soroundings more.
Luckily one could bet on that I do that now.
Here it is, the craptastic bricktexture made out of a bumpmap in some random 3d app.

neff, I really hope you don't mind me doing this.
I wanted to try and differentiate between the diffuse orange light and the specular moon light, and to try and make the character look more solid. Though putting it like that sounds like I understand what I'm talking about PLus I thought the character wanted to blend a little less into the background.
If this is unwanted criticism, let me know.
/edit:
dylancole, woah, how did you manage to get all those irregular forms in the second one, look so in-perspective? it's easy enough with regular shapes, but irregular shapes are hard!
Spooge demon, the bicker chick is stunning, jaw dropping. I don't think you could paint a truly sleazy chick if u tried hehe, all your women are so elegant, even when draped over a motorbike in skin tight leathers! don't know how they manage it! |

Viag -- Fantastic mechs! Without that extra brush work it wouldn't have the same effect. Good stuff
Dylan -- Great renders, I could almost picture myself standing in that scene. And you just reminded me of aerial perspective......I have to use that in my next landscape
P-Rik -- Whenever I see your pictures it always seems like it's glowing. . . i'll remeber to use your speeds as ref for any sci fi/fantasy paintings.
Spooge -- I honestly dont know where the hell you come up with such brilliant lighting. Your last few were particularly caught my eye. . . . and that one a few pages back with the guy sitting at the table (one guy on the floor). . . . now that was impressive!!
ax-hv -- I believe someone already mentioned how your style is closely resembling spooge's...........and i cant disagree. You keep it so nice and simple but done so right.
Neff -- Dude, I cant thank you enough. After you posted your version, things seemed to fall into place much easier. What a visual aid!!
. . . .as a wise old man once said. . . .paint to post
(refs on last post, prev. page)

I think i spent a little more time than usual on these.
"The way home"
self portrait of sorts.
Puff the magic dragon lived by the sea (in a little forest )
I took some of Mon's publically avaliable advice and was quite happy with the fresh feeling i got while doing something using a new process.
I've been gone for far too long
everyone's just doing so much cool stuff - this thread is really a kick in brain to get inspired.
Capt. fred That's really nice and thoughtful of you. I know that i've learnt so much through paintovers here on sijun. A picture says a thousand words, sometimes more.
spooge, lovely mermaid she seems a little buried in seaweed?
dylancole, sweet sketches!
igino, I like these last two you did, even if they are somewhat similar (but maybe that's why i like both)
rescuriat, that pig reminds me of this illustrated version of animal farm i saw once.
Viag, hahah damn i think i fell in love with the red psychobot _________________ It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice - Scooter |
