My understanding is, to be a good industrial designer you need to know how things are manufactured and what man made objects look like.
Could people who come from industrial design background suggest some books or directions on where I could research for this kind of stuff?
Any suggestions are appreciated. |

Ideo had a great book of how they aproach projects.= The art of innovation
Every catalog from Red dot or IF-awards
The institute without boundaries > Massive change
Everything from the material world collection
Should keep you going for a while....Have more but cannot remember the titles
The best way to learn how things are placed together (DFA) is by breaking them. Dissassemble every product you can. And ask yourself some questions. How is it done, why is it done in this way is there another better solutions? Do we really need this much screws? ... What you're really looking for is some books about DFA = Design for assembly. Had some courses but no books...
Hope this helps
Ciao
Psst.... Do try not to copie instead be inspired by these books
and if you need more replies from industrial designers post your question on core77.com |
