Ah.. tool. The band that seems to resurface in here every 4 months or so.

This is why I don't like tool:

They can plunk very well. In fact, they are some of the best plunkers I have ever heard. They do not, however, strum very well, and they strum 98% of the time.

???

Could you elaborate on those terms a little? I'm not really familiar with "plunk" (I'm pretty sure I know what strumming is)

*is a guitar ignoramus* -_-

Impaler: I'm not fanatically loyal of tool...it's just the only music that grabs me for some reason...I'm sure if I was rasied as a different person in a completly different environment i'd hate the band too, but I wasn't...

One of the main reasons I like tool is the notes that they don't play...you don't hear the normal sort of time signatures and melodies like in your average type of radio music...

I've been looking at some tabs and playing some tool songs out of boredom recently and they do use power chords and some of the riffs are extremely simplistic. They just play fast, play in drop D tuning, switch time signatures erratically, and think of fun lyrics and melodies...

(edit) damn typos

Los Angeles Philharmonic (currently conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen, who is kind of dreamy). That's the closest I can get to naming a "band"!

I really don't have any favorite "bands". There is more to music than bands, you know! My favorite conductors are Leopold Stokowski, Salonen, Robert Shaw, Zubin Mehta, Sir Colin Davis.

Favorite composers are Jean Sibelius, Rachmaninoff, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Aaron Copland, Dvorak, and many more.

Bauhaus
They complement my erratic, nostalgic, melancholic, sarcastic and humoristic nature.

Foo Fighters
Gorillaz
U2
REM

Mostly kinda new-ish bands because I only got into listening to music around a year ago, and the Foo Fighters have stuck with me coz' they were the first band I really got into. I still listen to Everlong and Aurora most days

umhh....

MrBungle...

... or Tom Waits...

... since MrBungle only has released 3 records, and only the two latest are really good, and Tom Waits has released umpteen records, all of them good, I guess I have to say...

Tom Waits.
