When are they releasing a nintendo ds style but slightly bigger drawing thingy? Would that cut the profits on the cintiqs? Not enough market for it?

yeah, i'd totally buy something the size of a a4, cordless, thin and with 1g storage for psds and such.

the new intous looks sweet. I wonder if the added pressure sensitivity makes a difference.

Me too! Think I brought mine about 7 years ago and i rekon it was on the shelf a couple of years.

To be honest this is the first new intuos that offers anything significant over the original, but even had I the money I still don't think I would upgrade unless mine went kaput!

I agree. Wacom has some kickass quality in their products. If I would upgrade, I would definetily buy Cintiq. It's really no use to pay 500 from a touch wheel and couple buttons..

just got to shime in. bought my intous (1) A5 back in the late 90ties and it still works flawlessly. except for a few worn out nibs it is pretty much in mint condition.

although the new ones look tasty, it would be crazy to upgrade.
i even feel abit sorry for wacom.
they lose money because they make such awesome stuff! Surprised

I can tell the difference, picked up a large one a couple of month ago, jumped up from a battered intuos1, they've doubled the pressure sensitivity (the reason I upgraded, buttons schmuttons), and, while subtle, the difference is there, the scrollwheel is fun though, and for dual setups, the display toggle being easy at hand is a real timesaver, the tilt control is sexy too, especially in painter, I'd say it was a worthy upgrade (I got a s.e a3intuos3 for xmas, it never left the box for more than 5mins as it was exactly the same as my old one apart from looks, had no need to replace, but this is much much better). Oh yeah, the new surface and nibs kick ass too, feels very different, make s a satisfying squeak when your press hard.

The only negative I've come across is the nibs wearing down quickly, you get ten replacements though, but the default nib that came with it, was in exactly the same state as my 5yr old intuos1 pen's nib after about 10hrs use, the surface didn't keep its pristine sexy black finish very long either, still looks great, and relatively new, but the matte finish isn't as matte as it used to be already (may partly be my own fault though, because you don't need a mousepad on this surface, got excited and used my intellimouse on the surface for a week or two, reverted to using a pad again)
