I still think a politician would be a good substitute for the 'dwarf of ignorance'... Wink

Awesome as usual, JD. Smile

@Durgldeep; thanx good to hear.. but I don't get ur 1st line.
@'Rockstar30; hm yeah similarities are surely present in picturing as well as in the beliefs throughout those close cultures I think
- but I'm not that much into those - glad u like it.

JD... the first line is (or was meant to be) an eccentric variation on
"customized symbolism"; guess that's obvious (see also,
"replaced/customized some of the classic symbolism", above). The 'dwarf of
ignorance' (the one I first thought of) is Apasmara:

Apasmara was a dwarf who represented ignorance and epilepsy. During
the cosmic dance of tandava by god Shiva... Apasmara was crushed by the
right foot of Shiva and was killed.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apasmara

Didn't know much about the dakini tradition (this thread got me digging);
interesting:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dakini
Huge resemblance to Prakrti - but I'll stay on topic. Very Happy

No sign of a dwarf in the traditional dakini definition, which I guess means
dakini/dwarf combinatons are recent and each dwarf has a custom meaning...
So, after all that, I'm wondering what the 'dwarf' represents in "the classic
dancing 'Dakini'"?

ahh ok
I's thinking in the wrong direction, thought u were talking in some kind of metaphers hehe Rolling Eyes
Thanx for putting that much thought into this piece..

Errm, but don't give its pictured size too much weight;
it's meant to be a human body/corpse the dakini crushes/dances on - which stands for the destruction of a big ego and selfimportance.
She also often has a flowered bow'n'arrow, flowertipped lasso and flowerrod or -hook , flaming hair + ornamants and apron of bones - sometimes she also wears human heads ..
Hopefully thats answers ur dwarfproblem Wink

Ah, metaphors - stuff like subtle antagonism, passive-agressive tactics, etc.(?).
I see. Have seen some examples hereabouts - but that's life. Smile

I got that the figure isn't a dwarf, yeah (re proportions). By 'dwarf' I meant
location in the layout. Sorry for not being clear. My bad. Smile
