dennis.sedov: really good speedies, mind if i ask if those blocks from the last 2 posts are referenced or something you've made up? really great lighting!

Lemur: wow that one is really good!! love the light

i don't really have anything new, i feel obligated to attach a painting so here's another old one i've never posted here before.

Thanks Rinthe. This is totally made up. I'm trying to study natural lighting in paint. This was very much influence by my experience as Lighting TD in past. But biggest help was color theory dvd from Gnomon. I tried to paint like if it was a 3D render, did not have a reference of any sort =)

Lemur: that might be your best yet. You've made huge strides in the last six months or so.

I am a big fan of the Halo games, so did this piece of fan art for fun. The grunt characters are some of my favorites, not only do they have tons of personality, but overall I love the design. Since I own several of the McFarlane Halo Grunt toys, I did a little photoshoot, and used the photos as the basis for the character's pose. Painted in about 3-4 hours, the last couple of hours were mostly subtle color corrections, usually I start off with a pretty strong color scheme in mind, this one ended up coming together at the end of the piece.

mattyuk, very nice you improved a lot.

raytoh, yeah something different. "daring" colors anf light! Wink Keep up that!

rinthe, i hope you dont mind i did overpaint your piece as I want give some advices.

try to vary saturation, not everything is "green" in trees, blades for example. Add some gray in between. There are lots to learn about light. Matt, gloss surfaces, reflections, atmospheric fog etc. You're very good at drawing, painting already, keep up that. Also good to experiment with composition, for example I marked light "channels" so the eye points to the house even at first glance it seemed as normal light/composition. It is always fun doing good compoisition, ie finding finicky solutions to tell the story behind the picture

a quick overpaint

General ramble, I think im officially out of typical concept art scene. Im not longer pursuing to be professional "conceptist" anymore. It doesnt mean that I stop post here but I just make it to my hobby so I post when I want.

I'll dive into world of Contemporary Art. It means a lot of Experiments, lots of it really. No realism, thanks God. It felt like the heavy stone is released for me, hehe .

I guess I got up with the last picture I made. There is a gun Very Happy I have to follow to words that I have writing before in the Grand Long text Smile

/End of ramble

exphrasis! That looks awesome! I like how you've added motion blur to show camera movement!

nide, hehe Very Happy I see that your guy watch my guy that got mad!

inspired by exphrasis pic. I had better idea for composition.

LESS IS MORE!

yeah Im still suck on textures. I have to create shortcuts to create separate "folder" for each set of brushes.

I'm not feeling like I can paint in photoshop. I just never get in the 'zone' in it.
